Comment: We live in a 3 story townhouse. The walkout basement floor (currently hardwood laminate) is very cold in the winter. The room is very cold in general in the winter, since the heat vents are on the ceiling and the room has high ceilings. It's just one room with a powder room. Not a very big room (probably 15'x10'). We'd like to install a radiant heated floor system in the walkout basement and we would like to explore options (water vs. electric), costs, timing, etc. We are in no rush. We know that we will need to remove the existing floor and likely have to put down new flooring (vs. being able to reinstall the existing hardwood laminate).

Comment: The Uponor ambient floor heating system for our side addition (15' x 10') was installed incorrectly using a PEX tubing system drilled through the joists underneath the subflooring, rather than using the Uponor Quick Track method to install the new wood floor. Even though the system was hooked up and is circulating hot water through the PEX tubing, the PEX tubing is hanging between the joists and is not up against the subfloor let alone the finished wood floor. Thus, no heat is warming the floor. The floor is cold even when the boiler is running for an hour. We need to have the wood floor lifted up and the PEX tubing re-laid with the Quick Track method above the subfloor so it is up against the wood floor. There may be an issue with laying the Quick Track over the subfloor increasing the height of the floor. Will need to discuss options for that.
