"My husband and I just moved from Long Beach. We bought our house, and have never owned a house with a cesspool. I contacted Priority to come over to inspect the system and educate me about how to maintain it properly.
I called on a Friday morning, and they scheduled me for the next day. They called before they came over, within the two hour window of time that they had told me the day before. Paul was the knowledgable technician that came over to do the job. He located my overflow tank first and dug up the covering so we could look inside. Luckily, the overflow was relatively new and empty, so he closed it back up, and proceeded to dig up the main cesspool. The main cesspool was 75% full, but again in good shape. While he was working on the second cesspool, the owner, John arrived to introduce himself and to check out the system. Paul then suggested that we pump the cesspool and clean it, and gave me the quote before-hand so that I could chose what I wanted to do. I opted to get it pumped and cleaned.
While doing the job, Paul explained everything that he was doing, and took a lot of time to answer all of my questions( and I did have a lot of them). He always told me how much a service would be ahead of time so their were no surprises. The total time for the job was 2 hours. I will absolutely use this company again, and I would definitely refer them to a friend! Thanks so much for all of your help Priority!

"We contacted C&G Restorations after we had a flood in our basement. We chose C&G because of the good reviews they had on Angie's List. Guy Reed got back to us within a few hours of our initial call and met with our property manager the next day. As I live out of state Guy sent my estimates via email and got things rolling as soon as possible so that we could remove the moisture and debris left by the flood quickly and make the basement usable again for the tenants. The work started two days after my initial contact. Guy was extremely responsive and communicated all that he was going to do, via phone calls and emails as well. He sent pictures of the before and after so that we could see the progress and even sent pictures of the moisture readings. The manager of the property said that the work went extremely well. The process took about five days and Guy had to come back to make sure the fans were working on the weekend. Guy's crew came and did the cleanup, removed the flood debris, some flooded sheetrock, and some flooring. They disinfected the the full basement and they ran fans and dehumidifiers for several days to remove all the excess moisture. Guy also found that he had to remove another closet floor that had gotten soaked that he had missed in his initial review. This was done at no additional cost. Guy followed up with a report of all the work that was done so we have a record and he even had suggestions as to how to do the follow up repairs and how to help avoid some problems in the future. I am so glad we found C&G Restorations to do the work."

"We called rapid repairs about our broken water heater.  Elly came over and quoted us a price that was very reasonable compared to other plumbers we called.  After we agreed on the price, Elly went to work.  By that afternoon we had wonderful hot water again."

"We just moved to New York and Long Island less than a month ago. We have never had a cesspool before and didn't know what to expect. A few days ago, we noticed brown water coming through a wall in our basement. Not knowing what to, we called a plumber. The plumber recommended this "Mom & Pop" company and thank God he did! Robin came out the next day and gave us the news. Turns out, we have 3 cesspools, one that was old and sealed up and the other 2 were not in bad shape (one looks like it's new but they were not emptied in many many many years). What was in bad shape was the pipes going to the pools (they were literally deteriorating) . Another problem was a pipe in the house was not "capped off" rather then "scrunched closed" so literally sewage was being spilled throughout insulation of the house. All this being said, we had no idea how much this would cost us. Robin replaced all the pipes, emptied pools and even removed the insulation and clean the walls. All of this for a very reasonable price. Robin is meticulous with his work. He assured us everything will be good as new. He and his co-worker completed the job in 1 1/2 days. With no knowledge of cesspools, someone could have easily taken advantage of us and I am so happy his company was recommended. I would recommend them to anyone and will be using him in the future when it comes time to empty the pools again. One thing we did learn, anyone that owns a cesspool, use Scott's toilet paper only. No Charmin or quilted Northern. Thank you Robin for excellent work and most importantly, peace of mind!"

FAQs for sewer main install, replace or repair projects in Huntington, NY

When installing a sewer line, you should consider extra costs like tree removal, driveway repairs, or patio resurfacing. Hiring a professional plumber is essential, and you may need additional specialists if landscaping or heavy excavation is involved. Addressing these potential extras up front helps ensure accurate budgeting and prevents sudden cost overruns.

To calculate the length of sewer piping you need, measure the distance from your house to the main sewer line, adding the depth of the city main to this distance. Be sure to account for any obstacles like tree roots or utility lines that may require additional piping.

City sewer lines are installed at a lower elevation to prevent unwanted backflow and water damage. This lower positioning ensures enhanced performance and long-term safety, meeting all technical and safety standards.

With trenchless methods, a plumber inserts a smaller pipe within the existing plumbing, avoiding full excavation. It can be more cost-effective and less disruptive than traditional methods, but it's not suitable for all homes.

Yes, you must secure permission from your local water authority before connecting to a public sewer line. This approval ensures your connection meets all regulatory requirements.

Sewer lines are buried between 18 inches and 8 feet deep, with most systems placed between 18 and 30 inches. In colder regions, pipes are set deeper to remain below the frost line.
