Reviews of Detroit Carpet Contractors

Project: Install Carpeting
Madison Heights, MI

It took 3 tries for them to remove all the old carpet & padding that was stuck to the floor. They had promised to use a sanding machine to get all the old, detreriorating padding off the floor but then told me they couldn't do that, but finally they did. Then the carpet was installed in the closets which had sliding doors which I had told them not to do. This forced me to have to cut down all the closet doors to make them fit. The carpet seems good but they really did not complete the work the way they had agreed to do it until I forced them to.Really a royal pain to have to deal with their excuses of why they couldn't do what they promised.

Ideas & Inspiration from Detroit Flooring & Carpet Contractors

Detroit Carpet Installation

The softer side of Detroit homes begins with plush comfort of residential carpeting. Very few homes have only one type of flooring. Indeed, carpet makes for poor flooring in a place like the kitchen, and can be less-than-ideal for high-moisture areas such as bathrooms and basements. At the same time, between bedrooms, living rooms, and other areas of the home where relaxation and comfort are put at a premium, it's unusual for a Detroit home not to have some carpeted flooring.

Choosing Carpet Fibers
The biggest decision you'll probably make for your carpet is what type of fiber will work best for your home, your lifestyle, and your budget. Often, there is no clear-cut best answer, but here are some things to consider and discuss with your Detroit carpet contractor.

Wool Fiber: Hands down the best carpet fiber on the market. It has a deep, rich color with unmatched durability and long-lasting beauty. The only downside is that wool fiber is also substantially more expensive.

Nylon Fiber: By far the most popular carpet fiber, this synthetic fiber is the one that most closely resembles wool without the high-end cost.

Other Synthetics: Some synthetics are cheaper even than nylon. Olefin, polyester, and acrylic are the most common alternatives. All carpet fibers can fade from prolonged exposure to sunlight, including wool, but different synthetics perform differently to other carpet enemies such as moisture, stains and burns, static, and abrasion.

Carpet Padding
The other major component of your carpeting is the padding. Strictly speaking, you don't absolutely need padding, but without it your fibers will pull apart and deteriorate in relatively short order. Thick pads will give your carpet that plush, soft feel, but padding density is the important measurement for durability. Thick pads with low density will quickly suffer from compression that will eventually destroy the padding. The pad you choose is usually a function of the area of the home where the carpet is to be installed as well as the expected foot traffic and weight-bearing needs.

Cost of Carpet Installation
It's difficult to say how much your carpet installation will cost. The national average for a carpet installation project is about $1,600. Our data for carpet installation in Detroit shows our contractors can handle the biggest or the smallest projects you can imagine. Recently, we've processed installations for small, simple carpet that cost as little as $350, and multiple room, higher-end carpet that came to a grand total of $4,500. By looking at the size of your project, and the quality of the carpet you need, you begin to see where your project may fall.

Contractors
Buying carpet from a chain store can be as stressful and annoying as trying to buy a new car. Commission-based salesman and constant promotions often mislead homeowners into making a less-than-ideal decision for their new carpet. The first priority in undertaking a new carpet installation should be finding a quality carpet professional. Discussing your fiber and padding options, along with quality of different manufacturers, will almost always lead to the best result. Plus, professionals, not the salespersons, will be the ones in your home doing the work.

HomeAdvisor can put you in touch with the best Detroit carpet installation contractors out there. Each and every contractor in our system is put through a rigorous 10-step screening process. You'll begin to hear from these contractors as soon as you make your online request. Then, you can use our online customer ratings and reviews section to further investigate the credentials and recent feedback of homeowners for these contractors.
