Comment: We are closing on a house (5324 Belsay Drive, Raleigh, NC, 27612) on May 15, and there is a retaining wall that is collapsing and will need to be replaced. The owners will be covering a portion of the costs. The front yard slopes up to the street. The driveway comes down the slope and ends at the side of the house at the top of the retaining wall. The retaining wall is flush with the back side of the house and drops about 4-5 ft. The previous owners used old deck wood to try to rebuild the wall, and it is failing. We are interested in getting quotes for a wood, block, and concrete wall. Also, our inspector suggested that installing a drain in the driveway may help by preventing some water from even reaching the retaining wall. Please let me know when you would might be available to get a quote scheduled so that I can notify my realtor.
