Comment: I would like to know if you provide services for installation of a new lock that requires drilling. I live in Studio 56 and we have commercial door locks in our units that have a 7 inch or so mortise/strike plate. The lock had to be drilled due to electronic failure and no physical key. I purchased a lock from home depot and found out that the lock smith couldn’t install it because it’s a traditional 4 inch mortise/strike plate. He stated the new lock would require drilling on the door for alignment and possibly wood filler as there will be a large empty spot where the original plate was. Bottom line, old lock has too big of a strike plate/mortise for residential Home Depot locks, and I need to get this fixed. Any guidance on if you can do this? Pricing requested, and pics of the old and new lock are below for reference.
