Appliance Cost Factors
A few factors that can affect the cost of your appliance’s installation include the finish of the appliance and the complexity of the installation.
Finish
Stainless steel appliances cost around $500 to $11,100 to install. Included in the total is the install services at $85 to $500, plus the $400 to $10,600 for the appliance. A basic stainless steel dishwasher is $400, while a 30-cubic-foot side-by-side refrigerator in black steel costs $10,600.
Stainless steel refrigerators average $100 to $200 more than white or black models. Fingerprint-resistant black and slate stainless steel are $100 to $200 more than a basic stainless steel appliance or about $200 to $400 more than plain finishes.
Smart Appliances
Smart appliances cost $750 to $8,500. This includes $70 to $500 for the installation plus $650 to $8,000 for the appliance. These appliances cost from 20% to 50% more than their basic counterparts. Refrigerators, microwaves, washers, dryers, ovens, and dishwashers can all use smart appliance technology.
Plumbing or Electrical Work
Professional plumbing and electrical prices vary depending on the type of work involved, but for the most part, electricians charge around $50 to $100 an hour on top of the parts they need to complete the service.Â
Expect to pay around $300 or more in total for electrical work for most appliances. Hiring a plumber costs anywhere between $50 to $200 an hour or a total of $175 to $450, depending on the complexity of your project.
