7 Simple Steps to Paint Chevron Stripes

A chevron accent in your kitchen or living room will give your home the perfect dose of lighthearted pizzazz. While painting a chevron accent looks like a tricky DIY job, Lifestyle blogger and HomeAdvisor contributor, Michelle Hinkley, breaks it down in seven easy steps:

Step 1: Choose the location for your chevron and draw two horizontal lines to form the top and bottom of your design.

Step 2: Measure the horizontal lines to find the midpoint — forming two boxes.

Step 3: Use painter’s tape to connect the opposite corners of each box.

Step 4: Determine the thickness of your design by drawing a second from the point of your chevron to the base of the pattern. (This forms the bottom line.)

Step 5: Cut one end of your painters’ tape at an angle. Attach the angled end to the bottom of your chevron’s point. Run the tape downward to the base of the design.

Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 as needed to complete your design.

Step 7: Begin painting your fabulous new chevron.
