"Frank and his crew renovated the garden bed next to my front stoop. They removed dead and overgrown plants, and installed new plants with topsoil and weed mat, a Belgian Block border and decorative stone around the plants. Frank is conscientious and a good communicator. I already have other projects planned for Bergin Property Management!"

"I am so impressed and pleased with the quality, integrity, and professionalism Rob Capella of Capella Enterprise Landscape Design and Development stands for. This gentleman has the heart of a teacher, along with a love of creating something functional and beautiful. He explained every step of the way what was needed for our retaining wall, and how a retaining wall functions; grading, drainage, equipment needed, etc. The gentleman in his crew worked tirelessly. He went above and beyond to work with us, especially since in digging they hit shale, which was a complete headache for them, and meant the job would take longer. Yes, it did mean that the job would cost more because you can't build a wall on shale, but Rob had thoroughly discussed with us ahead of time that you never know what you are going to find when you dig so we were definitely OK with having to deal with that. He also did what he could to make it work on both ends, and we are eternally grateful to him for that!"

"Iâ ve always jokingly said I needed a wife. Someone who can manage my to-do list, so I can actually enjoy life when I get days off. Enter Dawn, founder of GYST. She has managed my home moves, unpacking my house, putting up and taking down holiday decorations, organizing kitchens, closets, garages and all of the menial tasks that accrue and take over your days off, like dry cleaning, shipping, and appointments. She even found something I had misplaced FOR DAYS within 10 minutes of me asking her for help. Dawn is obviously very organized, but also proactive, action-oriented, very responsive, and just funny and lovely to be around. If you're feeling overwhelmed, not able to enjoy your time off, or you just don't want to carry the load on your own, Dawn is for you."

Start by defining your goals and budget. Collect photos of rooms you love, jot down must-have features, and list what isn’t working in your current space. Share these details—and your target budget—during the first meeting. The clearer you are, the quicker a designer can translate your vision into a workable plan and keep costs in check.
Yes, working with an interior designer can help you save money. Designers prevent costly missteps, secure trade discounts on furniture and finishes, and coordinate the project so you don’t pay twice for the same work. Their upfront fee often pays for itself in avoided change orders, tighter timelines, and materials purchased at below-retail pricing.
A full interior design project wraps up in two to three months, on average, while a decorating job takes four to eight weeks. Timelines stretch if you add structural changes, custom millwork, or specialty materials, and unexpected shipping or permit delays can tack on extra days. Talk with your designer about project milestones and build in a little wiggle room.
Interview at least three pros whose portfolios match your style. Review their credentials and ask for references. During a face-to-face or virtual meeting, discuss your goals, budget, and timeline, and make sure their communication style and fee structure feel comfortable. The right designer combines technical know-how with a creative approach that clicks with you.
