"Lloyd is very knowledgeable about both plants and design. He had a vision for my space and didnâ t try to sell me what I did not need. He listened to what I wanted and the result exceeded my expectations. He was upfront with the pricing. The install was done with care and precision. I look forward to working with him again."

"We have worked with Cecy Gillen Designs on three home renovations (our primary bathroom, installing a mudroom, and installing a laundry room with cabinets and shelving) and we cannot recommend Cecy and her team highly enough. She has an excellent eye for design. Every time we present her with an idea, she internalizes our vision and improves upon it with her own great ideas. She responds to our questions and concerns in a timely manner and her team is efficient and friendly. We look forward to working with Cecy Gillen Designs on future home improvements."

"The carpenter that did the job (Adam) was amazing. He had to expand the space for one window, narrow the space for another, and repair much cedar siding that had rotted away due to water damage. He also reshaped my patio door so it would close and lock more easily. He is a very talented carpenter and I have no qualms about highly recommending him."

"My yard was absolutely terrible. He came and talked to me about the different possibilities to make my yard look better. He also convinced me to add mulch to my yard and to be quite honest I was very hesitant, but after I gave it thought I decided to go forth. I am so glad that I did! My yard looks 100 times better! They worked fast and have lasting results. He was very responsive very respectful very informative. Thank you so much!! I will definitely be giving referrals, as I am very pleased with my yard. Whenever I am in need of yard work in the future, him and his team will most definitely be my go to. If anyone is looking for an honest landscaper, Al is your guy."

Start by defining your goals and budget. Collect photos of rooms you love, jot down must-have features, and list what isn’t working in your current space. Share these details—and your target budget—during the first meeting. The clearer you are, the quicker a designer can translate your vision into a workable plan and keep costs in check.
Yes, working with an interior designer can help you save money. Designers prevent costly missteps, secure trade discounts on furniture and finishes, and coordinate the project so you don’t pay twice for the same work. Their upfront fee often pays for itself in avoided change orders, tighter timelines, and materials purchased at below-retail pricing.
A full interior design project wraps up in two to three months, on average, while a decorating job takes four to eight weeks. Timelines stretch if you add structural changes, custom millwork, or specialty materials, and unexpected shipping or permit delays can tack on extra days. Talk with your designer about project milestones and build in a little wiggle room.
Interview at least three pros whose portfolios match your style. Review their credentials and ask for references. During a face-to-face or virtual meeting, discuss your goals, budget, and timeline, and make sure their communication style and fee structure feel comfortable. The right designer combines technical know-how with a creative approach that clicks with you.
