The monthly payment plan is affordable & there are no contract surprises/changes written in. They also guide me on things I would have forgotten, like registering my alarm system with the local police. I appreciate their guidance and service.

So they have one month of money before I get the service. That is just the way they bill. It is unusual because most places bill you after I use their service. So they will always have one month of my money before I get the service.
