Paint Removal Services Near You

Paint Stripping Companies In Your Area

Sometimes you can't just cover the old layer of paint. For example, if you have an older home, there's a risk that you have lead paint that needs to be removed. Or if you want to add new life to old furniture, the best way is to strip it down to the base material. But stripping the paint yourself can be hazardous, messy, and time-consuming. Find a local paint removal company who can help.

Professionals typically use one of three methods to remove old and cracked paint:

  • Grinding with power sanders or sandblasting
  • Using paint stripping chemicals
  • Applying heat with a heat plate or heat gun.

Each has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, grinding can release dust in the air which is particularly hazardous if lead paint is present. Chemicals can also be hazardous and while there are more environmentally-friendly options available, they tend to be less effective. Heat and chemicals can also present a fire risk.

When hiring a paint removal service, be sure to hire local. With a local pro, there are fewer delays on change orders or project expansions. Local companies also know where to dump toxic residue so you don't have to.

Removing old paint gives your home or furniture a blank canvas. Type in your zip code and HomeAdvisor will find paint stripping services near you.

"I highly recommend Holy Land Landscaping. They were asked to remove leaves in my backyard and it became a much larger job than expected especially with all the rain that fell shortly prior to their job. The owner is responsive and a very hard worker. I would not hesitate to hire them for jobs in the future. "

"From the time Kris was recommended by Home Advisor, he stood out from the crowd. He called immediately and scheduled an appointment, showing up on time, giving me an estimate for the work needed. I wanted most of the inside of our home painted plus outside trim and foundation and repairs to a bay window. As we walked around, Kris could immediately see what needed to be done. He did NOT try to make up things but spited things I already noted. He took time to explain to me his background/experience in the industry. he also told me how he and his team would do the work. I knew what needed to be done and how so his explanations made me comfortable with his expertise. He gave me an estimate of the time it would take and later emailed me a detailed breakdown of the expenses and work to be done. Once we decided to hire Kris, I signed a contract and made a 10% down payment so he could order supplies. He also came by a second time to help me select colors. I gave him our final decisions two days before work began. Kris orders paint from Sherwin Williams one day before work begins to ensure it is freshly mixed. The work crew arrived Monday morning at 8:15am as scheduled and began to prep the rooms to be painted that day. They moved the furniture to the middle of each room and covered it in plastic. Any rough spot, nail pops, loose wall tape, or dings were mudded, dried, and sanded. Fresh caulk was applied around the trim. Ceilings were painted and cut timing in around the trim and walls rolled with coats as needed. They concentrated on two rooms/areas each day so the rooms could be completed ASAP. Our master bedroom and bath have lofted 11 ceilings that add an additional challenge but they are well equipped to handle it all. Outside- repairs and painting were done expertly with proper tools and materials. Fresh paint on the foundation and shutters in addition to the trim and front door gave our home a fresh facelift. Throughout the week, if I had questions or noticed anything that needed attention, the attitudes of each and every crew member was kind and respectful. At the end of each day (4:30pm), they did a good rough clean and moved all the equipment and drop cloths out of our home. This reduced the disruption in the evening and overnight hours. We have wood floors throughout our home and they worked to keep them paint free. As with any painting job, that nearly impossible so I did take a wet sponge to a few spots each evening (less than 30 minutes) to ensure nothing set up. They returned the furniture and most wall hangings (as directed) to close to the original positions. They even moved our piano carefully! I can not recommend Kris Painting Services highly enough."

"On time hard worker! Turned out well. I was not home for the job, came back and he was packed up. One area was missed but it was my fault. I should have been more clear and stayed for the work. Paid him with tip. Nice young man."

"I hired Herwin to repair a section of my ceiling. He arrived for a free quote on the same day I called & was available to do the repairs on my schedule. The job was completed on time, on budget & everything was cleaned up upon completion. Noone would've known they had even been there except for the beautifully repaired ceiling! I will definitely be hiring him should another project arise. Great job!"
