They did a great job.  Did exactly what they said they would do.  Their cost was inline with other competitors.  Showed up on time and very responsive not only during the week but also on the weekend.  Returned phone calls promptly.  The technician was always available to talk on the phone and the office was always available when I called with a concern.  Explained everything very clearly.  No surprises.  Easy to work with.  Would definitely recommend and would use them again. <br />

They made mistakes with the billing. <br /> They removed a part of our equipment saying it needed to be changed without asking beforehand and when we tried to have our home maintenance insurance, Nations, pay for the replacement we had a hard time because they had removed and gotten rid of the parts which were deemed faulty. <br /> They did not always come when they were supposed to.  <br /> The owner was rude in his communication to us.  <br /> <br /> <br />

I am very pleased with their work.  I will definitely use their services again. <br />

We had been through several pool cleaning companies before finding 1st Rate on Angies List <br /> They are by far, the best company in every category and then some. <br /> Not only does our water look crystal clear each and every month, but they really care and take pride in their work.  Before, it was always a different person and I would discover something not quite right with pump, or pump basket or maybe the Polaris sweeper was broken and nothing was said or done. <br /> NOW, with 1st Rate, the same person comes out ON TIME week after week (even on holidays or the day before) and if something is not working or needs tweaking , they inform me and take care of it immediately.  Once we had a minor leak from an old rubber seal and they took care of it on the spot at no charge. <br /> I don't always take the time to write reviews unless I have had an exceptional experience with a company/business! <br /> If you're looking for a pool cleaning company then look no further!   <br /> (on a side note, James, the owner has some excellent resources for other services like tree trimming, landscaping, etc) <br />

These guys are great.  We have a very large and elaborate salt pool system with two filters, several pumps and a solar heating system.  James and his crew were out to the property almost every day for a week or so.  Their attention to detail and personal supervision to ensure everything was perfect was amazing.  1st Rate now provides our regular pool service and the quality remains equally high.  They use our remote access to monitor our system from their shop when they are not here.  James educated me on some very interesting details of how salt systems function and how to optimally manage it.  I honestly wish all service providers were this professional and attentive.  Highly recommend! <br />

Job was done about an hour sooner (and cheaper) than expected. <br />

We used 1st Rate Pool Service for several repairs when we were putting our house on the market.  During the course of the work we had the pleasure of getting to know James and several of his employees.  I cannot say enough about how wonderful it was to work with James and his team.  They were honest, hard working, did great work and became like family.  After dealing with several vendors I would never deal with again during the course of putting the house on the market, I can tell my fellow Angie's List vendors this is a vendor you can trust and you most definitely should use.  The pool service might be a touch more expensive than other services but it was totally worth it.  Our pool never looked so good! <br />

, and thought a The extended power outage from the Big Freeze of 2013 kept our pool pump from running, which caused our secondary pool pump to freeze and blow out it's seal.  I called 1st Pool and spoke to James about my issue...namely, water leaking out of the bottom of the pump when it was running.  James thought it could be a few different issues Go-Kit might be the solution, which would basically replace a few of the gaskets and seals.  HIs technician would be able to tell for sure when he visited my home. <br /> Alex (the technician) arrived as scheduled and was quickly able to determine where the issue was...the secondary pool pump.  He said the Go-Kit was not needed as the issue was clearly with the secondary pump.  He then proceeded to help me diagnose a low pressure backwash issue that I was experiencing, and took the time to explain some things to me that (as a first time pool/home owner) I had no clue about. <br /> To replace and install the secondary motor was going to run a ballpark of $450 - $500, which is on the high side of what I was expecting (and could afford) to shell out right then.  Apparently, fixing a leak in those motors is a challenge because the seal is very difficult to re-achieve once the unit has been opened up...so the recommendation is generally to replace the unit. <br /> Being somewhat handy, I was able to find a brand new pump of the same make/model for $220 on Amazon.  I wouldn't have attempted a new install of the unit myself, but swapping out a new unit for the old was something I could handle.  It took me about an hour or so to do and everything has been running smoothly since. <br /> I would definitely contact these guys again for any pool issue I have moving forward, as they seem to know their business pretty well.  I think I might have a slow leak somewhere in the pool that I plan on having them take a look at in the spring. <br /> Overall, I think their proposed pricing was fair and reasonable.  $230 or so for the pump and another $250 to install assuming it took a couple of hours to do correctly. They've got employees and overhead to cover, as well as travel time, and some sort of profit, so I felt the labor charge was in the ballpark of reasonable.  I just have more time than money and was fairly sure I could handle the install on my own. <br />

Professional and courteous. Very conscientious about making sure gates remain closed so the dogs don't get out. No language barriers like we had with some other pool companies who hired people who don't speak English.Highly recommended.

Our pool mysteriously stopped working during the evening as the nasty snowstorm came to DFW.  We were alarmed, and called a few pool people.  The only one we got through to was 1st Rate, and I am glad that we did.  James explained to us (novice pool owners) how to minimize freeze damage until he could get there to check things out. Due to icy roads, it took a couple of days to get a crew out, but he maintained communication with us over the course of the weekend.  The crew just left, having replaced a broken motor/pump. All well, and no extra damage from freezing temperatures.  We will call them again. <br />

I had an emergency with my pool due to the freeing weather. The pool company I have used for 15c years was unable to make it so I called 1st Rate Pools. James had 2 technicians at my door in 2hours and fixed the problem at a great price. I did not realize how poor the service was that I had gotten used to until 1st Rate showed up, They will get all my business from now on. <br />

He did a good job.  He was responsive and did what I asked him to do.  I also thought the price was reasonable.

Dealt with James. He was friendly and attentive. We discussed my problem over the phone. I sent him a picture of my outdated and very old timer box via cell phone.  He qouted a price for replacing the old unit and we set an appointment time for the work to be done. James arrived on time and replaced the timer box exactly as he said he would. Yes, I would use 1st Rate Pool Service again. <br />

I called and spoke with James, one of the owners and he explained all about their service and listened to my problems and concerns about our pool.  He sent a team out a day or two later, and they did a gret initial clean and they inspected the pool and let us know that we needed a couple of replacement baskets and a filter clean.  They send you a detailed email after every visit letting you know who the tech was and what all they did, along with any recommendations they have.  I have never had a pool service act like a business, and I am very happy with them.  I like to be informed and kept in the loop, and they do this very well.  They also have procedures in place to prevent the water hose being left on, and that other quality standards are maintained.  I would recommend 1st Rate to anyone who wants a sparkly, clean pool and likes a professional service. <br />

I got this company from Angie's List and the pool service is nice. I'm on going using their service. I started using last June when I had a problem with my pool and they took care of the problem and now I'm using them for maintenance.

The initial visit was very pleasant. James came out himself, and spent a generous amount of time talking with my husband about the various aspects of the pool (we have never owned one before - so we had tons of questions!). The weekly cleanings are great - the pool always looks nice, and we especially like the VERY detailed emails we receive after each cleaning describing what was done, and the status of various components of the pool. We also just had an issue where the motor in our pump died - I spoke to someone at 1sr Rate the day we discovered the problem (which was a Sunday), and by the end of business the following day, it had already been addressed. We installed a new, energy efficient pump that they recommended, which should hopefulyl save us a significant amount on our monthly energy bills.We are very pleased with the service received so far. The only minor issue has been an occasional delay in the processing of invoices - but when I talked about it with James, he apologized for the delay, and even offered to make needed repairs to the hot tub blower for free to make up for the slow billing (which was very generous of them!) We wil ldefinitely continue to use 1st Rate for all of our pool needs, and would highly recommend them to others. <br />

James is very knowledgeable about all aspects of pool maintenance and repair.  He is very professional and easy to understand in his explanations.  I am very happy with the results of my purchase and have even hired him to help with the pool in my rental house.  I would definitely recommend him to others. <br />

I had never used a pool service until I moved in to my house <br /> about 2 years ago. For a 1-1/2 years I used the company that was servicing the <br /> pool when I bought the house. I thought they were doing a good job until I <br /> hired 1st Rate. These guys are really good.   <br />   Some pool cleaners just open the back gate and throw in some chemicals. 1st <br /> Rate brings their own vacuum and spends as much time as needed to make sure the <br /> pool is sparkling clean. I cannot recommend them highly enough.  <br /> <br />

In the beginning my pool was filled with leaves and acorns after I broke my wrist in October of 2011. I tried cleaning it myself, got friends to try and help me, but just was not getting the job done. Called 3 different services listed on Angies List but one never showed up, the other I had to leave a voice mail and they never called back. 1st Rate Pool Service answered the phone, came out and gave me an estimate for the bi-weekly service and when both my pool pump and pool sweep started squeeking James toll a look, gave me a price which I compared on the internet and he replaced both, at a very fair price, and they have been my pool service now for almost two years. No plans to change of discontinue, they keep me from having to worry as I know it is taken care of professionally. <br /> Thanks James. <br />

Exceeded expectations! <br />

We have had a pool for 20 + year.  We have tried several pool services over the years and have up till this time reverted to cleaning and servicing the pool ourselves due to either inconsistent service or quality.  We have now been using 1st rate for a year and they have been punctual, communicate well and often, and diligent in quality work.  It is nice to be able to just enjoy the pool without having to fight it. <br />

We use 1st Rate Pool Cleaning Service. They do an excellant job cleaning our pool. They are honest, dependable and professional. If they see something that need attention they don't hesitate to let us know. I would definitely recommend this company for pool cleaning services. <br />
