We recently contracted John DeAngelo and 225 House Painting to remodel the exterior of our home. We needed a complete exterior paint job, repairs to the wood siding, new columns under the car port, new exterior storage room doors, and two interior ceilings painted.
John came to our house to give us a free estimate. The next day, he sent us a very detailed contract that not only listed all the work to be done, it clearly explained his warranty and work ethics. We spoke on the phone and through email several times to work out the details. John always responded within half a day and was easy to talk to.
John offered help in choosing our exterior paint colors and explained the different types of paint we could use. He repeatedly went the extra mile to take care of unexpected issues that came up. We decided that we also wanted the concrete porch and walkways sealed. John not only arranged this on short notice for a reasonable price, he even brought over color samples for us to look at.
His crew always arrived early and worked hard throughout the day. They were very detail oriented and did not cut corners. They were also very polite and helpful.
Our house literally looks 20 years newer. The results were much better than we had expected. We?re proud of our house and the neighbors like the new look, too.

Johnny seemed very honest and straightforward. He and a man he called his "brother from another mother" signed the contract for the work to be done. The work was to begin Monday and be completed by Saturday. This was my first home purchase so I was eager to get the work done and get settled in. His "brother" and crew was to do the work while Johnny was out of town on vacation.

If you could imagine everything going wrong, this was it. The work was absolutely TERRIBLE! As outlined in the contract, the crew was supposed to put plastic on my walls and floors to not get dust or plaster on them. Needless to say, this wasn't done. The ceilings weren't scraped completely of the popcorn and the plaster around my fixtures was very sloppy. Plaster and dust was all over my walls, blinds, floors and every cabinet in my house. The crew was very unprofessional - they drank the beer in my fridge and left a complete mess for me to clean. I was under the impression they were supposed to clean up after themselves. Because the plaster was all over the walls, I demanded that he clean the plaster off and repaint them. I had to go the sherwin williams and spend $200 on paint to get my living room, kitchen and dining room repainted. Again, the paint job was terrible. I'll called Johnny, while he was on vacation, to tell him about the horrible job his crew did but there was nothing he could do since he was out of state. I had trash all over my deck and cigarette butts all over my lawn.

The "brother" called me during the job to tell me he needed an additional $200 to repair damaged Sheetrock on the ceiling. I was completely shocked by this because the contract specifically stated that Sheetrock repair was included. After two weeks of h*** of having this incompetent crew in my house, I paid to have them get out of my house. I felt I had no choice. After Johnny got back from vacation, I had a difficult time getting him to come out to my house to inspect the "damage." After seeing the horrific job his workers did, Johnny said there was nothing he could do about the ceilings but he said he would pay to paint my hallway and bedrooms...with a different crew, the walls turned out less than stellar (they didn't sand down or wipe off the plaster that was left by the first crew - they just painted over it). This work took an additional week because Johnny didnt show up or answer his phone when we were scheduled to meet. He only answered after I showed up at his house. Excuse after excuse after excuse. I know he had his phone on him because I would hear it ring twice and go to voicemail. He was pressing ignore on his phone.

Johnny pleaded with me not to leave a bad review on angieslist. He said he would pressure wash the outside of my house to make me happy but this still hasn't happened. It's been over a month since he said that. When I emailed him last week about this, he said he had it scheduled 3 times but was cancelled. Again, another BS excuse. Johnny left me no choice. For a man who says he a Christian and has good values, I'm not fully convinced of that. There are many things that I am leaving out, but I think this gives a clear picture of my experience.

****In response to Johnny's response, he's seems to be deflecting blame everywhere but himself - this isn't my attempt to "get back" at Johnny...this is only my review to share my experience with 225 House Painting. I gave you many chances to get this right but I got excuse after excuse. Also, I did not BEG you to do the job, so get that out of your mind. You did BEG me not to write this review, but your lack of communication and ownership of this job caused this.

After I posted my review on Angieslist, these are the texts I got from Johnny. You're leaving me no choice but to post this. If there was a way to screenshot the conversation and post it on here, I would but here is word for word what was said.

Johnny: (my name), thank you for the wonderful review, I tried to do the right thing and correct what the n****r screwed up, I painted your intire entire of your house, we didn't wash the outside of your house fast enough for you, f**k you man, have a great life.

Me: Glad that got your attention.

Johnny: "Your (You're) a vengeful little p****, why didn't you try to hurt the f*****g n****r, your not that smart you paid for f*****g up your ceiling, you should have thrown him out of your house but your a p***sy, so you get even with me. That's fine

Me: If you want to talk to me like a man, feel me to call me.

Johnny: F**k you the conversation is over

Me: So much for being a good Christian.

Johnny: I am not good, never was never will be, that's the point of Christmas coming, only a sinfull, wicked sinner evident in losing my patience with little prices (p*****) like you trying to hurt my business, you c poo uldnt (couldn't) of even given me a friendly call firstly before doing that s**t

Me: Friendly call? How about the countless times I call you with no answer? And making me wait around for you to show up. I was patient with you but saying you'd have my house washed and not doing it was the last straw. A friendly call would've prevented this review. Practice what you preach, Johnny. By the way, all the name-calling isn't gonna help.

Response from 225 House Painting
"I made a terrible mistake, I broke my own strict rule that I have been following for over 25 years. I was going on vacation and we could not do the job, 225 Painting could not do the work for this customer who was moving into his new home, he begged me to get it done so I gave the job to another painter whose name is Don Shield, he did the work ,none of my employees was responsible for the work that was done, the people that are responsible for the work that was done are not employees of 225Painting, upon returning home from my vacation I learned of the problem and offered to paint the entire interior of the customers home to make it up to him and he excepted, everything was fine he was totally happy until I didn't get back to him fast enough to wash the exterior of the house which I also promised to do, so in an ugly attempt to discredit me as revenge for not washing his house he wrote this review, compare it to the thousands of satisfied customers over the last 25 years and you can see it is totally out of charter for our company, 225 Painting did not do the work. Thank you Johnny DeAngelo"

Johnny was awesome. He was prompt in contacting us and the pricing was best in town. Job was done professionally and quickly. Johnny gave a very personal touch to the experience. I love the color and looks beautiful. He followed up to check on us after job completed. Would recommend to anyone asking for a painter.
Once I accepted the job, Johnny didn't waste any time. He was in there the next day prepping the place. I stopped by occasionally just to see how the job was coming but other than making small conversation, I had no reason to even be there. Upon arrival, I would hear Johnny immediately instructing his crew on what they were trying to accomplish. Also, the owner didn't mind getting dirty as well to ensure the job was completed on time. I was really impressed with everything and the only things I had to do was sit back and relax and let them finish the job while signing the check at the end after inspecting the place!
I was so pleased with the way every step was taken. Everyone was nice and professional and the entire project was finished on time in spite of rainy weather. Steve and his worker paid great detail to everything I asked them to do. I am so happy with the house painting, it's like a new house. I would certainly use them again and refer to other friends and family.

Johnny was prompt with a quote. I was traveling so I didn;t get back to him for several weeks. No problem. We were able to handle everything over the phone. I was so happy with the work that I expanded the job.
Nice people, very professional. I will use them again for any painting needs.
Upon deciding to paint our work building, we checked Angie's List. Found a couple of companies and got quotes. Decided to go with 225 Painting after doing so. This was not just based on price, but how the owner responded by contacting us and reaching out with info on his company and things to look for when hiring a company. The owner stopped by several times to get with us on what we needed done. Explained everything they were going to do so that we understood and there would be no misunderstandings. Even had a representative from Sherwin Williams come out and consult with us on paint choice colors. The owner wanted to make sure we were happy with our choice colors before they got started. They did lots of caulking and fixing of some minor blemishes that other paint companies probably would not have. John the owner stopped by several times to check on his crew during the course of the job and to make sure we were happy and didn't have any questions. Once they got started it went very quickly and they were done in no time. Our building for some reason had an unusual amount of soffit vents (41), which they took them all down. Anytime we had a question or were concerned about something all we had to do was ask a worker and they would explain or help us understand. All workers were very friendly and helpful. They were very efficient about taping things that should not get paint on them. Before they finished they had a worker go over the entire building with us to see if there was anything they missed or that we were unhappy with. The few things we did, they quickly took care of.
We would certainly recommend 225 Painting to anyone that asked. Feel like they went beyond just painting our building. Did a great job and really want their customer to be happy with the end result. Great prep work, great paint job, good customer interaction. Glad we checked Angie's List for a painter. GREAT JOB Mr. John and crew!

I was impressed because I called looking to get the room painted very last minute. I called Wednesday afternoon and left a message. Johnny called back 10-15 minutes later and told me he could probably get the job done Thursday (next day) he just wanted to come and look at the room so he could give me a fair quote/estimate. He came an hour after he called and said the job wouldn't be a problem. Steve, the actual painter, came out Thursday morning, just a little after the 'window' Johnny gave me. Steve stayed all day and painted our room for us. It took him about 5 hours to get everything done and it looks great.

John DeAngelo was wonderful. He explained exactly what they would do step by step and they did everything he said they would do. They washed down everything and did not put bleached water on the brass adornments on the doors. They also sanded the metal doors that were caused to rust by the previous painter. Not only was the house beautifully painted but the shutters were painted as well (I'd decided to replace them but now there is no need. The little fence and gate I'm planning to replace was also painted. My house now looks wonderful and new. I was told that they would use two coats of paint and at first I expected for something to be shoddy but to my surprise, nothing is. I was guaranteed that the paint job would last at least 20 years and I believe them. Without cost they even repainted my mailbox to match my house. I was so pleased with the work I asked John if he knew anyone that did floors. He said yes and when ready I will definitely consider his recommendation, and I would hire anyone he recommended. The person that finished up the work was very friendly and since having extra time said for a little extra he would paint the deck, which he did. He brought the receipt back for the cost of the paint and that surprised me. I was amazed that nothing was done under cover and he reported to John all that he did.

I would definitely hire them again...especially to paint the inside of my home. Very good recommendation, Angie's List.

I thought that 225 house painting did a great job. They moved furniture, covered floors and prepped all areas to be painted before they even picked up a brush. They were in and out in a week as planned and the house looks beautiful. My wife was very impressed with Mr. Johnny and his whole crew. We are already planning on using 225 house Painting to paint the exterior later on in the year.
Overall we were very happy with the 225 experience. Johnny and the crew were very professional. The job turned out even better then we could have imagined. The cost was very good and the quality paint and warranty was another reason we will always use and recommend 225 house painting.
I contacted 225 House Painting to paint the exterior of my residence and received the utmost of professional experience. We were informed of the cost, time to complete, and cleanup. All were adhered to as per contract even though inclimate weather added some extra tough working conditions. I would recommend this company to anyone requiring painting.
First off, the guy who did the pressure washing is not in the shiny van they show in their ad..that must be the painters truck..the pressure wash had an older unit that broke the pull cord..that being said, the guy they had doing it worked extremely hard and did a really fine job. And we needed it in a hurry so they started the same day as the estimate which was great.
