They're service was good. They came and did a really good job. I highly recommend them to others also.

Fast, responsive, and left us very satisfied. Lynn was extremely helpful and explained the whole process. Sean was wonderful to work with and also extremely patient. He explained everything (sometimes twice) so we could understand. They were honest, up front, and were able to fix the flue liner and install flashing same day (yes, I learned new words today!). Everything they installed in under warranty with a service guarantee. We will definitely be using them for future chimney cleaning. Loved the inspection report with the pictures as well! Big plus!

The crew arrived on time and did a thorough job. The reason this rating isn't higher is because the crew chief had been in my house no more than 10 minutes before diagnosing what he said was a dangerous level of creosote in our chimney and recommending installation of a $1,000+ chimney liner, which his company would of course be happy to sell us. I said no, thanks. The next year I hired another service - Emener ([*** Link removed ***] - which told me that the chimney was actually in good shape and pretty clean considering how much we use the fireplace. 5 Star clearly used its promotional offer as a way to upsell an expensive add-on that I am now convinced wasn't needed. Beware of deals that look too good to be true.

The company did a great job. Jeff was professional and explained everything that he was doing and that needed to be done. They showed up on time and did the work swiftly. They cleaned up everything too.

work went well when it was initially performed, at least I thought, but the chimney cap blew off and they keep hanging up on me when I call to have them fix their work.

We had them "repair" the flue and they joined the furnace flu and the fireplace flu. They did that work in a few hours and charged us $4,200 dollars. My wife was frightened that if we didn't do the work, we were at risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. I am now having work done again as the chimney is leaning and needs to be rebuilt from the roof line up. The mason doing that work explained to me what a horrible job 5 Star did and that we were taken advantage of by the worker doing the work. If we ever used the fireplace, we are at risk to have an explosion due to the work done by 5 Star ventilation

This is possibly one of the most atrocious companies i have ever had the displeasure of dealing with from a customer service perspective. From reading the reviews this is not an isolated incident. We had 5 star come out to do a chimney cleaning from Angies list. At which point the terracotta flu stack was clearly in poor shape. We where quoted for a stainless steel flu install, ash pit clean out, ash pit door install, re-pointing on the chimney breast and firebox/hearth as well as some brickwork and patch up. I was happy with the quote after receiving two more at a similar cost and commissioned 5 star to do the work. The work that was carried out was of sufficient quality however this is the only mild positive that i could give to the company. Everything that followed left me bewildered as to how they are still in business. 1. One of the service engineers vomited in my garden "because he drank too much coffee". Not at all because he was hung over. I was left to clean this up after he tried to kick it into the bushes. 2. They arrived late to my all day appointment and had to leave early to attend to another customer. This meant the ash pit clean out and door where not completed despite being paid for. This is where the problems started. 3. They never called back to re-arrange an appointment to complete the work. 8 months later i was still left chasing them for an appointment. They have never been proactive in resolving the issues. I have always had to chase them. 4. Customer service at this company is abysmal. My calls where never returned despite the promise by everyone that they would be. Equally, everyone at the service center seems to be a manager when you try and escalate an inquiry. 5. I finally re-organized an appointment and had someone attend my property to be there for the engineer. The booking was for between 3-5. At 4:15, after calling the service center myself i was told that he had to "pop over the border to Massachusetts". We live in southern CT and as such he was clearly further away than the 45 minutes i was quoted. To that end, he was very late and my attendee had left. I never once received a call from the service center or engineer advising to his whereabouts. Apparently the engineer was impossible to contact and no one knows why. As such, they missed the appointment and he just left the ash pit door on my back deck. Presumably for me to install myself? 6. I attempted to call the service department 15 times from 4.45 to 6 pm on the day of my appointment and no one answered. Apparently on Friday they have variable times at which they close despite their website saying 6pm. I left messages on their website, Facebook page and voicemail's. Nothing was returned. 7. I have now had to call 6 times to get a refund on the incomplete parts of the original quote. Each time, i am promised a return call to confirm the refund to no avail. Each time financing seems to be "in a meeting". I am yet to receive a refund and i have just called again today. My recommendation would be to avoid this company like the plague. Whilst the work carried out was satisfactory, the customer experience was one of my worst to date. I rarely write reviews for companies because i have always been diligent in doing my homework, however, the reviews for 5 star ventilation do not reflect my experience whatsoever. There are far more reputable vendors out there.

The 5 star ventilation company installed the chimney liner and removed the existing cap.  They NEVER installed the new cap.  As of now, I still do not have a chimney cap on the chimney although I have called them many times.  The people who answer the phone are rude and unhelpful!!!

These guys cared! through any obstacle that occurred a solution was quickly found to satisfy all!! Clean neat and respectful must be the motto of 5 Star. I highly recommend Jeff and his guy Sean. I had a chimney liner installed in my older home and they took care to leave it better than they found it. Some pointing was done as well at the top of the chimney that needed fix. I now look up with pride once again knowing the guys set me up for the next season change !

The technician, Lee, came with an assistant and they completed about 50% of the work on day one back in October, 2016. Due to some weather issues, they claimed that they couldn't finish the job until the spring. I've called approximately 20 times and have gotten nothing but dishonesty and delay tactics. There was one scheduled completion date and they claimed to have called both me and my father (who was at my house to let them complete the work) but there is no such missed call on either of our phones. They never finished the job and have now apparently gone out of business. Both Lee and the manager who promised me over and over again that the job would be finished were fired by the spring of 2017. Just an awful experience all around.

5 Star was extra friendly and helpful with the service. Took time to explain what needed to happen to keep wildlife from returning to their home in my chimney and also found a needed fix in my fireplace that another company missed entirely. Higher quality parts used than the competition quoted me for about the same price. Very satisfied and would recommend!

I just had some work done by 5 Star Chimney Sweep. They were prompt, professional and extremely neat which is a plus. They covered my stairs into my basement and wore little booties on their feet as they entered my home. I was extremely satisfied with every aspect of their services. Job well done!

I would recommend this company. They were prompt and worked quickly, but efficiently. The technician was very nice and also informed us of an issue with our roof, which we were already aware of, but it was nice that he took the time to let us know there was something wrong. Definitely a good value for the price.

5 Star Chimney was very punctual at every stage of our interaction. One company wanted to charge almost $9,000 to completely tear down and rebuild the chimney but Ralph (the 5 Star technician) said that was not necessary and it just needed to be repointed and waterproofed which they did for a fraction of the rebuild price. They also explained everything that was wrong with my chimney beforehand and took pictures to show me the deteriorating mortar that needed to be fixed. In the end they seemed very knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend them to anyone that has problems with their chimney.

Excellent service - everything was explained on the phone before the appointment, including the cost. Pete showed up on time and was personable and very knowledgable. The service was very professional and I will definitely continue to use 5 Star Ventilation to maintain our fireplace and chimney.

Excellent Service. These guys were great. They arrived when they said they would, swept my chimney and answered all of my questions. I really appreciated how neat and clean they were because it looked like there was a lot of stuff in my chimney. I am glad I called them and I would definitely use them again.

After a couple of attempts of amateur attempts at repairing my chimney leak during heavy wind/rain storms, I've decided that it was time for some professional help to solve this chimney leak. I started searching around on Angieslist and the rest of the internet, and it was quite a long searching process. There are plenty of Chimney companies out there; but Five Star drew my attention. It was the high Ratings, plus a Facebook page that allowed me to see some of their previous work. Speaking with Five Star I sent them over some pictures of my Chimney with a yard stick for in the image as a reference. After couple of email exchanges, they sent me over a quote - which I found to be the respectable in this arena, especially for the work I wanted done, which is replacing the entire chimney. It's a lot of labor! After setting up the appointment, all that was to do is to wait for them and their crew to arrive. The entire process took a few days; starting with the demolition of the old chimney, constructing the new chimney, and finishing the new chimney with a crown, flashing, and water resistance capabilities. One thing I noticed with Pete and his crew is punctuality, on time each day and getting everything ready for work. At the end of this, I have a new chimney that is no longer leaking per the recent rain storm that passed through the area. And all of the old chimney and construction materials are no longer at my house. A warm thanks to Pete and the rest of Five Star Ventilation for replacing my chimney, I am one happy customer!
