5th Gen Group

Christian and his team were fantastic! We needed our basement re-finished after some flooding with the recent rains. They responded promptly with a quote and came in to do the demo before the waterproofing company installed a sump pump. They were flexible when we ran into some delays with the waterproofing, and showed up when we were ready to start. They provided creative solutions for how to re-finish the space to make it even more functional than before. Communication with the team was great, quality workmanship, and all at a great value. We'll definitely look to them again for any future work. Thank you!!

Our original contractor dropped off of the Facebook of the Earth, leaving us with mostly finished renovation and the new deck I started. I found 5thGen on Thumbtack and Christian was the most responsive and knowledgeable of the respondents to my search for fencing contractors. His team built me a gorgeous fenced-in urban oasis and the double lattice was his idea and custome made for our space. I’m attaching photos. He and his team then proceeded to repair our previous contractor’s errors (like installing new kitchen cabinets upside-down... really!) and did amaze my custome drywall work and mounding work. They even moved our challenger and you would never know the base had been relocated looking at the ceiling. Great great job, reliable and responsive on multiple projects for us since. Our relationship with 5thGen started at the end of 2015 and continues to date.

We have used 5th Gen to help finish/correct mistakes that our main renovation contractor made. They have performed with excellent results, the staff is very friendly and we are able to trust the team working around the nice things we have in our home, taking care to cover floors, furniture, etc. We highly recommend them for your new projects as well.

We contracted with 5th Gen Group for repairs to flooring, subfloor, and floor joists in the lower unit of our condo building. 5th Gen Group was very helpful and responsive, and offered a detailed estimate for the project at a competitive rate. The owner of 5th Gen Group went above and beyond to answer our questions and ensure that our needs were met. The workers and foreman that 5th Gen Group provided were extremely professional, the quality of the work was excellent, and the job was completed quickly. I would definitely recommend 5th Gen Group to others, and will happily work with them again on future projects.

This project could have been the type to cause months of stress and frustration with any other contractor, but Christian and the folks at 5th Gen made sure it didn't. We had the floor of an entire room ripped up because of water damage, including the structure down to the dirt and part of the wall. Their estimate was thorough and their pricing was very fair, especially given the level of service. They were always timely, attentive, and professional, and somehow kept the work space very clean. In the end, the only way to tell any work had been done was that it looked better than before. We're looking forward to working with them on some fun projects in the future, like remodeling.

The quality of workmanship in the services provided and the materials used by 5th Gen Group was excellent from start to finish. Their professionalism was definitely noticed in the way they left the home back to a clean and tidy state after all their work had been completed. They were always on time and accommodating in meeting the project's required deadline.

Handmade wood handrails with balusters installed and painted in front of house along front steps. Four new pieces of flagstone for new main posts. Flagstone steps and walkway power washed, re-grouted and sealed. Final result was superb. Workers were on time, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Any imperfections were taken care of without question. Highly recommended.

I wish I did not need to update my review from last year, but I believe that I have given Christian every opportunity to stand behind his work and honor the "10 year" guarantee. After having 5th Gen group repair our wrap around porch last fall, we followed all the advice and guidance he has given: hired a stonemason to repoint the stone and attempt to seal all cracks and openings, rehired 5th Gen to paint the underside of the decking and install a moisture barrier on the floor and earth below this OUTDOOR space. By early spring, the paint was peeling from the exposed areas of the porch flooring and railings and two of the side boards had warped, causing the decking on the side porch to become wavy like a roller coaster. Since April of 2017, I have had multiple written promises to come and touch up the paint and replace the two boards. I have taken off of work to wait for people to come and look at the areas multiple times only to be put off over and over. I have had Christian and crew come and try to explain that this outdoor space was too humid and that is why the boards warped. I was advised to put a dehumidifier underneath my porch and install fans. Since I cannot dehumidify the outdoors, we only installed the fans. I have been quite patient, since at least Christian was responding (although still not committing to given me a date to replace the two boards and repaint). Between April and October 3rd I have had numerous emails and texts with promises of repair, but no commitment for a date. The warped boards have created a gap between the porch and the stone surround, allowing rain to enter the space, creating more work for us to ensure that the water was cleaned up quickly (since Christian has indicated that the water and humidity (of an outdoor space!) was to blame for the warping). I came home early from work (again) on October 3, 2017 to meet Christian to look at the area AGAIN.....but this time he spent the time taking pictures, accusing me of not caring for the "indoor" space and being defensive about all the paint peeling off the porch. It was quite unpleasant: somehow I knew I would not be hearing from 5th Gen again. I was right. Despite multiple emails and texts, I have not heard back from Christian at all. It has been a year since the work was completed and 9 months of asking for him to repair his work: we paid for additional "weather proofing" below the porch, and I still have a wavy deck, warped boards and paint peeling from every surface exposed to rain. We have since discovered that the paint used on the outdoor deck was an indoor /outdoor paint (they left everything in my crawlspace behind my house) NOT porch floor paint. All he had to do was replace two boards and touch up paint: instead, he spent a lot of MY time and lost work to somehow build a case that the warped boards and bad paint job is my fault because my OUTDOOR porch is wet. I am very disappointed and angry.

We were very impressed by 5th Gen -- both management and the men who came on-site to do work. We just purchased a new home and had a lengthy list of jobs to do -- most relatively small, but a bunch of them! Paul (project manager/superintendent) worked with us to help us understand what each project would entail. As first time home-owners, this is all a bit new, and I appreciated that he took the time to explain things to us in a lot of detail. He also helped triage the projects so the more disruptive, interior work was all finished prior to our move-in. The one bigger project we did was screening in our back porch. It looks awesome, and Paul was great in helping advise with key decisions. We love it and spend a ton of time there. I also generally appreciate how 5th Gen goes above and beyond. When they noticed the back porch steps were super slippery in the rain, they powerwashed them so remove debris -- problem solved. Also, we have a puppy, and the on-site workers were really great at making sure to keep the babygates and doors closed so she would stay in the kitchen as they moved about the house. Overall, highly recommend 5th Gen!

The team found bricks that matched the shape of the current ones, constructed the railing so it was identical to the original design (required by my HOA) and painted it with three layers of primer/paint to fend off future rust. Project included sanding and repainting an iron gate as well. I am totally pleased with the finished product and will be soon using the 5th Gen Group for another brick project.

The power washing was easy but finding deck stain to match the previous stain was difficult. Without complaint, 5th Gen persisted and was finally successful! We were very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them!

Christian is responsive, personable, and easy to communicate with. He accommodates our busy schedules. He has a strong background in home building/renovation/repair. I would certainly hire him again.

Jose and Oscar were very good, and well equipped for the job. They were able to do electrical, construction, plumbing, painting and masonry. They were generally thoughtful and professional. I did not give 5th Gen an A though because time after time I was disappointed in their lack of responsiveness. Project manager told me several times he would get back to me at such and such time but did not. In the beginning he left town without mentioning this, leaving me hanging for a week. Same thing with owner. They all meant well but I sensed they were overwhelmed and over promised. Due to unforeseen circumstances, job ended up being much higher than quoted. It was a hard pill to swallow, and I had to essentially take them at their word I was being charged accordingly. That said, I do like that they pay their workers a living wage with benefits, which is reflected in their higher prices. If you are okay with this and understand that, not all the time, but at least half the time, they can be pretty slow in responding, then I would recommend them. The bottom line is the work they did was very good.

We want to thank you and your team for the work you did in order to complete our project. We would not have been able to close on our previous home on time without your flexibility, creativity and constant communication. 5th Gen truly did an amazing job! We looking forward to using your services again in the future.

It was excellent! I am a little late writing the review. Apologies to 5th Gen. These guys were the best!! I was in a real bad situation: the lock on my door came completely off and I had no way of locking my door. Worst, it happened kind of late in the work day. I called these guys out of the blue and they dispatched people to me in no time. I even got a couple calls from Jess making sure that all was ok. The staff that they dispatched had to rebuild certain parts so that the door would lock. They were superb and professional and they did a great job. I cannot say enough about how pleased I was with the service and the care that they all took to make sure that I was ok and secure. Hire them, you will not regret it! I plan to ask them back once I am ready to do my renovations.

I cannot speak highly enough about working with this company. Christian has been great. He was prompt, professional, thorough, honest, and trustworthy. He provided multiple recommendations for us to consider with rationale. His work was excellent and we'd hire him again without question.

I called Christian the week before Thanksgiving when my husband's efforts to repaint our kitchen before holiday guests arrived went south. Christian was sympathetic and responsive. He was able to get his crew in to do the job within days and even worked on Saturday to get my kitchen back in shape before my guests arrived; the quality of work was exceptional and it was unbelievable how clean they kept the area!! 5th Gen saved the day!

Christian came multiple times to help me decide on the scope of work and materials for our large 100 year old wrap around porch; he was incredibly patient and explained the pros and cons of my options and helped me fit the work into the overall goals we have for our house. There was no hard sell. At all. Once we decided on the scope of work, the team started on time and were very considerate. Christian made himself available and answered all our questions along the way . He kept us informed of progress , walked us through "snags " when unexpected complications were discovered. The quality of the work was even better than we had expected. Christian was onsite often and his team was on message and could answer our questions as well. ( I am used to the team only knowing what the plan for the day is.... and not being able to talk about the project overall). We are so happy with our new porch and look forward to working with 5th Gen again on our next project.

5th Generation provided extremely prompt and professional service throughout the entire project.  The staff was experienced and courteous and the work areas were always cleaned and neat at the end of the workday.   Any questions were answered promptly answered and issues were resolved quickly.  The quality of the drywall work and ceramic tile installation was top notch. As stated previously both Christian Wells and the staff were always profession and courteous and most importlantly captured our requirements and made them a reality.

We had a great experience with 5th Gen.  They were responsive and worked to make sure they understood all the details of the job correctly.  The workers were professional, prompt, and very nice to deal with.  I appreciated the attention to items that I hadn't even thought of and they were patient in explaining different options.  The job was done in a timely manner, they kept the area as clean as they could and we are very happy with the results.
