805 - Lath & Plastering

Had them do 2 jobs for me. Most of the work performed was good. Had issues with textured finish applied in largest area. They agreed to fix it when they came for 2nd job. It looks better but still have a number of over-textured areas on 2-story ceilings. Team not careful about protecting walls, floors, cabinets, etc. - a lot of cleanup after they left. Had them onsite for total of 7 days. Some work should have had more people onsite than were sent - only 1-2 people sent to complete some larger finish work instead of the 5 that had been on site - delayed completion. Sent different people for finish work so work took twice as long and was half as good. One person sent to do last work (finishing ceiling painting and reinstalling light fixtures they had removed - different person, no idea how to install lighting fixtures, no ladder for 2 story fixture install, will need electrician to complete properly). Damaged water line on way out after first job, resulting in water shutoff to house for 16 hours, until plumber could repair water line (patchwork done by plaster guys lasted less than 5 minutes). Would not have used them for second job but needed them to fix the overspray areas of texture. The work was very expensive; I expected a lot better service and quality for the money.

Job: Popcorn ceiling removal, Drywall installation and bar removal. They were very eager to help, throwing in extras for no additional cost, even after agreeing on the price, and very polite and friendly. I like Manuel and team and don't like to give a bad review, but if I had read this before I had gone ahead I would be happier now. The first problem was in communication. Some of this was due to a language gap and some because of the gap between a plasterer's knowledge and a customer's. They gave an option of "orange peel" finish but their description that it would look like my walls was way off, with the end result being a much much rougher surface. This is the worst aspect since the removal of popcorn ceiling was to eliminate the look of such a jagged, rough surface and now I'm considering having it redone in some places, and after a high expense that's painful. They did initially offer a "smooth" option but in comparison to the "orange peel" of the walls this would not have made such a difference, so I did not choose it. Second, they told me they were qualified for asbestos removal and although I'm not expert it just didn't seem as though there was much containment of dust etc. That worries me a lot, but at least the family were absent at the time. Third, (aside from the orange peel), the final result on some ceilings was visibly lumpy and had an uneven appearance. This is worst in the living areas where it becomes quite visible in some lights/ The drywall walls themselves ended up pretty good - flat and smooth - but I had to get them back twice to re-do these. After the initial "finished" work you would just look and see lumps and scrape marks everywhere. Manuel cleaned it up well himself after I pointed it out and did a great job. . And there was an initial attitude that inside a closet doesn't really matter, leaving one piece of work pristine on the outside and rough anything on the inside (still quite visible to my wife as she picks out her favourite clothes). Finally, the painting was similarly inconsistent. Great in some areas, visible roller marks in others, leaping out at you from some angles and in some lights.

He was able to reschedule to accommodate my needs , high quality of work for a fair price. I will be hiring for future projects

Service provider has no concept of time. He missed starting on the first day of the project and was late on three of four days. This was a two day job that took four visits on four separate days. Nice guy but I would not recommend him or hire him.

They always arrived late an hour or more.

We had popcorn ceilings removed. The quality of the work wad good. We had a discussion as to what the finish of the ceiling should be but we resolved it to our satisfaction.

Manuel and son are a great team and do a great job. I am proud to have them work for me.

I cannot recommend Manuel high enough. He and his son are a true delight to work with. They arrived (and a 3rd man) on time and went right to work. The asked if they had a question on what to do next and frequently asked me to OK what they were doing and check that the work was being done to my satisfaction. I would encourage anyone that is looking for general handyman services to call Manuel. For me they refinished an entry French door, repaired a cabinet door, unclogged a sink and did some major landscape work and took away a lot of "junk". It was wonderful to have one place to go to have all these jobs done professionally and at a reasonable cost with the work guaranteed!

Manual did a great job, plastering and painting

They promised to give me a receipt but never did and ignored many requests for one also, and I paid cash. I do appreciate that they helped me without almost any notice whatsoever on a Saturday morning.

Their bid was the highest of the others but were immediately available to do the work. They estimated it would take 4 hrs and it took 12. They tried to throw away extra parts without letting us know and the quality of the workmanship wasn't good. They put a storage shed together for us that's supposed to be water proof and water gets in the cracks where it's not tightly sealed. They also refused to take away the large cardboard box the shed came in even though they had room in their truck. They are not to be recommended.

Edwin was cordial and very knowledgeable, a perfectionist at that! Prompt response, and available according to my schedule. I would hire again and recommend services.

Wow. Finally there's a handyman that will do things the simple way. He installed my cooktop without needing the expensive tile modification, and fixed the floor without having to pull the whole thing up. By doing things this way my project was half the estimated price! In a day when the answer always seems to be - pull everything out and replace it, I am happy to know someone with the skills to actually repair things!

They took on a difficult job to repair a laminate floor, declined by 3 other companies. They repaired the problem with an excellent result, and were lower in price than one other vendor.

It was handy to have a handyman in the same town as where the job location was. I was expecting the cost charged to be less, but not so. The handymen were polite and seemed to know what to do though their specialty is in plastering.

Very responsive. Polite and courteous workers. I hired them to bore four holes for concrete footing, not for lath and plastering. So, this company can do a lot of different jobs and do them well. Also, they were significantly cheaper than the two other companies I contacted to do this work. They started the next day! Highly recommended for just about any job not just lath and plaster work.

I live out of state and hired Manuel to assist my tenant. From all reports....he and his team did an excellent job. Very responsive to my inquiries. I will definitely use him again as needs arise. Thank You!

They came on time, cleaned up the work spaces well and were reliable in completing the various jobs. The work ran the gamut from outside stucco repair and painting, indoor drywall repair and painting, light fixture installations and gate repair. Highly recommended!
