Write a ReviewThe first reason is the cost. At the time I ordered, Tesla was not servicing Jacksonville, Tesla is about 35% cheaper. Just so you have an idea, I was supposed to get about 21 panels and 2 power walls from A1A Solar and that was going to cost me $50,000. I ended up going with Tesla and got 24 panels and the same 2 power walls and that cost me $32,000. The second reason (and the most important one) is empty promises. I decided to get solar in August 2020, my first and only question was **am I going to be able to get the system installed before the end of the year so that I can take advantage of the 26% federal tax credit?** I was promised that the system would be installed before December 31st, 2020. Of course, that did not happen, the government extended the 26% until December 2021, but that was recent, at the time that was scheduled to go down to 21%. The thing is, I made a deposit that was fully refundable only for the first 3 days (this was never told to me, not even once) the issue with that is that from the day I signed my contract until the end of the 3rd day, nothing happened. By the time I had a reason to cancel, it was too late. I got a text and a call from A1A Solar in mid-November to tell me that they were not going to be able to install my system before December 31st, 2020. Not long after that, Tesla started servicing Jacksonville and I decided to cancel since A1A did not keep their side of the deal. Of course, when I asked for part of my deposit back (about $2,300) they refused and let me know that I only had 3 days to get the deposit back. I tried to legally fight that with no luck because it was in the contract, but of course, they never mention that, because they know not many people will cancel within 3 days because nothing happens in 3 days, so I had no reason to cancel. Tesla on the other hand, only asks for a $100 deposit that is also nonrefundable, but they do let you know before you make the payment. Note that I only asked for part of my deposit back, because I am reasonable and I know they submitted paperwork to JEA to get permits, which is the only thing they did because I had to submit the HOA permits myself. So I was willing to leave more than 50% of my deposit with A1A. But they refused. So, do yourself a favor, save some money and some headaches and go with Tesla. I will not be able to get my deposit back, but if I can at least send one person away from A1A, then we will be even. Have a wonderful day!
Installation team of Nick, Carlos, Kareem, Byron and Tim were very professional and efficient. They completed my installation with competence and high quality. Salesperson Chris stayed involved throughout the whole process. I highly recommend if you are considering a solar installation.
3 Years ago I contracted ECS Solar out of Gainesville to install my new pv system. Not only did they mess up the job, but I had an ongoing lawsuit with them until they successfully skipped town. So now I brought in A1A to fix that mess up and upgrade my system to be the way it should have originally been. I REALLY wish I had just gone with A1A in the first place because these guys got the job done right and in an orderly time.
We got installed at the end of 2015, and couldn't be happier with our investment. My husband and I are retired, and saving $200 per month for years to come sounded almost too good to be true, but that's what we do! Sean was patient and walked us through the whole process of paperwork and financing and explained everything real well. They also pay you to have a solar party, and we are going to do one soon. Great company.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback, we appreciate it and we're so glad to hear that you had a positive experience! Let us know when you're ready to have that solar party ;)
A1A has some fantastic customer service. I know first hand.
Thank you! We think so, too :)
Promises made but never realized. Posted over one year after install... Summary of my Experience You will never get a check from JEA or the power company. The government will not pay you the 30% tax refund credit all in the same year. In fact, it will take me three years to get back the $13,000. So the first year I was surprised with a $10,000 expense when they assured me I would have no "out-of-pocket" expenses. It will not produce as much energy as they tell you it will. Mine produces about 7,000 KWHs less than what they sold me. Message me and I can send the data. The Monthly Payment will NOT leave you with a zero energy bill. $65,000 for solar ($10,000 out of pocket), monthly bill is $226, it may cover about half the cost with my new bill being about $150 a month vs. $300 without solar. ...Not to mention the extra expense when I need to replace my roof. Roof leaked after install, stain is still there on my ceiling. If the Power Company goes out, so do you...no matter how sunny it is, the energy goes directly to the power company and not to your house. You will have three large, ugly energy boxes installed on the outside of your home with galvanized piping running down to each one, They replaced a one year old, 80 Gallon water heater with a 45 gallon and said it would work the same...BIG LIE. We now run out of hot water a lot. The way it was designed and presented to my HOA for approval, is not the way it was installed. In fact, two panels sit behind my chimney and are in the shade much of the time. They do not monitor your energy production or inform you if you are having issues. I gave it over one year to write a review to give the owner, Pete Wilking the benefit of the doubt. I refused to sign the final agreement but Pete gave me $6,000 and assured me it would produce an average of about 1,600 KHRs per month. The sales guy told me 1,900 and reality is it produces a monthly average of about 1,200. When Pete tries to tell you the value of the solar, he becomes a fortune teller and predicts the future costs of energy. However, energy costs have been going down, not up. I like the idea of cleaner energy and I am sure there may be companies that do it honestly but it is NOT Pete Wilking and NOT A1A Solar.
Hi, thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, as the owner of the company, Pete Wilking, discussed with you and explained to you, you were misled during the sales process. As you are aware, the person who sold you your system was fired from A1A Solar immediately upon our discovering that he was not following protocol and was not using ethical business practices. We regret that we did not discover his actions sooner. Unfortunately, your PV system was already fully installed when the situation came to light, therefore our options were very limited. Pete Wilking regards integrity and customer satisfaction as his highest priorities, which is why he felt obligated to recompense you in cash for part of the cost of the system. When you accepted the refund, you agreed that A1A Solar did their very best to make good on promises made, despite those promises being unauthorized and incorrect. Your system is sized to produce a specific amount of kWh, if the production is low, please be sure to make sure there are no new shading issues or heavy pollen/debris build up on the panels.
Top notch company.
The project was completed (designed and installed) professionally in a short amount of time. They took care of all the permits and paperwork, including the HOA, electric company, and city approvals. They even helped arrange the financing.
