Our upstairs heater had been working nonstop and the second floor still felt chilly. When our smoke detectors had to be replaced, the electrician told informed us there was too much humidity in them, which might be due to insufficient insulation. We had a few businesses come by and give us a quote, they were in the same price range. We decided to go with John because I was impressed with his vast experience, his promptness, and how thoroughly he explained the whole process to me. During the initial inspection and estimate John was very thorough when looking at the attic spaces, always explaining what was needed and what his solutions were. He also suggested having the recessed lights replaced with LED to eliminate fire hazard, which I had done immediately. On the day of the insulation, John always supervised the work personally. They not only insulated the attic space but the trap and access doors as well to minimize cold air leakage. They made sure they sealed tightly. When they were done, they vacuumed the floors, bagged any waste, and left everything very tidy. We already felt and saw the difference on the same day, I am using less energy to heat the house and the temperature stays constant! John also made us aware of the Renewable Energy Program of the City of Naperville, made sure everything was done according to code and provided me with all the necessary documentation. I submitted the paperwork and am being reimbursed by the city with 50 of the costs of the whole project!

John, the owner, was prompt in his phone call from my request, and scheduled a time to come out to inspect/quote around my crazy schedule. I received a few quotes before booking the project, which were all roughly the same amount, but what made me decide to go with AARCO was the amazing customer service. John was pleasant, not at all pushy, explained everything to this first time home owner, and advised me of a local energy efficiency program where half the cost of my project was rebated. Very pleased with the whole process, and enjoying my warm house!

When one of the owners, John, came by to make the initial inspection and estimate he was very thorough when looking at the attic spaces. He explained what was needed and what his solutions were. He then explained the material they used and their years of experience working with Owens Corning products. Both partners in AARCO had worked together at Owens before forming their own company. He also explained and suggested other things that I as a homeowner could do to make the house more energy efficient. ( I did research on alternative energy and building energy conservation in college and knew he was speaking the truth and not just selling a line.) They sprayed a hospital grade disinfectant in the attic before they started in case there had been any insects, rodents or mold that could cause problems. (Years ago we had squirrels in the attic for a few weeks.) They placed measuring sticks in the attic so I and any future house inspectors would know the depth of the insulation. They made sure that any can lights mounted in the ceiling were acceptable to be covered by insulation. If they were not acceptable, allowance would be made or low temperature LED bulbs would be recommended. They installed barriers between the insulation and the roof to allow proper air flow from the soffits to the roof peak. This is necessary to keep moisture from condensing in attic space. The not only insulated the attic space but insulated the trap and access doors to minimize cold air leakage. They made sure they sealed tightly. When the were done, they vacuumed the floors and bagged any waste material. Also, one of the crew members was being trained and I listened as John explained why they did things in the best way possible. John also quizzed him on what he was doing to make sure he understood. He is a good teacher.
