They did a terrible job I would at least would like to have my money back.and I would like to have the contract as well

My wife and I hired this contractor in late March of 2021. He was strongly recommended to us by his cousin Robbie G. My wife and I signed a contract about March 20th, 2021. Work proceeded about March 25th. Contract stated half due up front $2600, and then due upon job completion, the same amount $2600. About April 5th, contractor/owner made contact with my wife and I and asked for balance of $2600 before job was anywhere completion. Contractor stated that he had to leave that very afternoon for Tennessee to attend a funeral, and before he left town he needed to pay his workers for the work they had done up to date. The very next week my wife contacted him asking when they were going to resume work on our project. His answer was "Oh Mrs. Kauffman, we will be back before the end of this week." No work was ever done from that point on.

What an extremely unprofessional person!. Hired for an $18,000 drywall job, paid 20% upfront, and after one day, he quit without telling me! We had to have a hearing for me to get my money back (he had the audacity to say non-refundable!). During the hearing, he constantly lied about every aspect of scope of work he performed. Luckily, I had photo evidence and arbitrator ruled in my favor.
