I would advise that if you must hire this company, you get a complete written estimate including what is included and what is not, so you can make an informed decision. Over the phone, Norman quoted a fee of $120 per hour to install a gas water heater as all the materials were included with the unit we bought. On the day of installation, he spent 3 hours and charged me $657. When I questioned the bill, he stated that his charge was $125. Further, he admitted that he was done in 3 hours but charged me 30 additional minutes in order to write the two line bill I received. I disputed the bill. He then sent me the following in a text message.: Price breakdown: Labor: 3.5 hours x $125=$437.50 Materials: 10 feet of 3/4 pipe=$33.00 6 3/4 45 degrees fittings=$17.00 3 3/4 male adapters=$9.00 Miscellaneous required items such as flux, solder, cleaning and acid brushes=$20.00 5 stainless tap cons=$5.00 4 stainless washers=$2.00 1 3/4 copper strap=$.50 2 stainless screws=$.50 1 braided gas hose=$100.00 1 copper cutting blade=$25.00 Material Total:$212.00 Taxes and markup: $57.24 Job total: $706.00 This is after the work bill and it increased! He used less than 6 inches of pipe. He charged me for the entire 10 ft bought but took the unused 9 ft with him. Additionally, he inflated the price of the hose and charged me for tools used such as a copper cutting blade!! In the end, we were able to settle the issue and I paid him $410. It was a very stressful experience and while I have no complaints of the quality of his work, I cannot vouch for his honesty. I accept responsibility for not getting everything in writing BEFORE he did the work. Lesson learned!
