By the time Alex had arrived at our place, the flooding has ceased. He spent about 45 minutes trying to determine what caused the flooding. We had several inches of water in several rooms on the lower level of our house. Not only did we have water on our floor but we had spongy black pieces of some backup material strewn about several floors and, especially, our downstairs shower which we hadn't used for years. (Guest area) Alex concluded that the debris and wet areas must have been caused by a sewer backup on our property and recommended a specialist to check out the sewer system leading to our house. Alex is the nicest person, besides being a competent plumber. A pleasure to have met him and to have requested his services.

I was told by a reputable HVAC business in the area that a furnace in a rental property had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be replaced. I called Alex and he went over and was not confident the heat exchanger was cracked and felt that the furnace was in working condition. He then took the time to check to see if the part was still under warranty (it was). He is returning this week with a camera to officially diagnose the furnace, but if the heat exchanger does need to be replaced, it will cost around $700 instead of the $7000 I was quoted by other companies for a furnace replacement. I was blown away by the honesty and the fact that my best interests were at the forefront in all of Alex's actions and decisions. That's not something you find very often in a company, so know that when you choose Amherst Plumbing and Heating you are choosing an honest company that will deliver great service while looking out for your needs at all times. I have worked with Alex since before his company was started. He can diagnose and fix ANYTHING. He never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge of what needs to be done and how to do it cost effectively and right on. I have used him for both plumbing and heating. He is honest and approachable (even when I ask a question multiple times in order to understand what he is recommending.) Most of all, I trust him to do the work right and I trust him as a person.

His prices are reasonable, which makes him more affordable. I am committed to work with them in the future when the need arises.
