A.R. Masonry & Demo

I had a 30" exterior door that wanted to replace with a 36" door. This required the masonry block foundation wall to be enlarged to accommodate the the new door. TJ responded within minutes of my HomeAdvisor request. Quoted the job the next day and started the day after that. Wanted full payment upfront (BIG RED FLAG), I paid have. Work was to begin at 8 am TJ called at 8:10 to explain he forgot he had to take child to school, showed up at 9:30. From the very beginning he looked out of his area of expertise. He clearly did not understand what I wanted or the scope of work to complete the project properly. He did not come prepared with the proper tools or materials. He had to go to the store after arriving late to begin with. I provided a shop vac, reciprocating saw, broom, plastic to enclose work area. Work did not start until approx. 11 am. While working he never protected my flooring, burned my carpet with a hot saw blade. He left for 3 hours to run family errands. His work that he did do this day was of poor quality. Luckily for me I have construction inspection experience and could see what he was doing was completely poor workmanship. After not completing the job before dark a tarp provided by me was used to cover the whole where my door was. After not showing up after being an hour late the next day, I called and woke him up. At this point I told him to come pick up his tools and I would finish the job myself. When he arrived 1 hour later he did not engage me in any conversation to explain or apologize. He did not speak one word to me before leaving. This man had no business taking this job or my money. I was left to repair the cracks he left in my masonry block foundation and install the door. Unprofessional, unprepared and should not be a HomeAdvisor pro. I feel sorry for the people that do contract TJ for a project. The only reason he received any star rating is because this site requires to give at least a 0.5 star which A.R. Masonry does not deserve!
