Aaron's Electrical Service

Aaron's is a local company that has excellent reviews elsewhere online. They installed a turn-key whole-house backup generator for us. A few comments about my experience - the initial contact with Wes, their sales lead and estimator was extremely smooth. He came out and in just 10-15 minutes had all the details he needed. I had a quote within a day or so that was close to other bids, but a little more expensive. But I decided to hire them because I felt they had a solid reputation and that I could count on them to stand by their work. The generator had to be ordered and it took a while to come in. When it did arrive we scheduled the work. Unfortunately Aaron's didn't check to make sure they had all the required parts, so we got partway into the install and discovered the transfer switch was missing. It took a few days to get one shipped and once it arrived, the team was promptly back on site to finish the work. There were a few other minor glitches with the project but nothing out of the ordinary. I was quoted a full turn-key job but midway in it looked like I was expected to pay a $350 fee to upgrade my gas meter. When the gas company rep came out he said our system could handle the load without it. On our invoice there was a $650 charge for gas line install and meter upgrade that I felt shouldn't have been there. When I asked about it they said that was the charge for running the gas line - which one guy did in a couple of hours. So that charge seemed a little bogus and overpriced, especially when everything was supposed to be turn-key. Overall the work was good quality and the unit is doing well and runs the whole house no issues. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Aaron's to anyone looking for a whole house generator.

I am pleased with the work and the service techs. I'd call them without hesitation if/when I need electrical work done at a later date. Techs were well versed in their trade and executed the tasks neatly. They were good to explain their work to me in a way that a non electrical person can understand. The owner of Aarons Electrical Services gets a gold star for his courtesy and professionalism!

The owner came out to give me the estimate on the job. He was punctual and professional and an estimate was given that I approved. The installers that actually did the work were not as professional as their boss. However they performed the work to my satisfaction. My issue came with the final price. One of the tasks was to install 2- 6' rope lights above 2 cabinets. The owner quoted $272.68 , I approved the price. He mentioned that if they had to install outlets rather than connecting directly to the recessed can that was there, the price could go up. I'm thinking, OK, could be $100 more. The most time consuming and complicated task that I had him bid was installing rope lighting around a pre-existing media room platform. The price $342.73 The 2 electricians seemed unsure about how to accomplish this, so I elected to defer that work and thus expected the overall price to go down. To my surprise, the final price actually increased by $20! The owner emailed me immediately to assure me that he wants his customers to be happy. He then justified this pricing stating that he quotes by the job and it has nothing to do with how much time a job takes. Therefore, installing 2 outlets that aren't visible (on top of cabinets -2 outlet boxes wired to the end of cable, no sheetrock work,etc.) and wiring those into a recessed can so they work on one switch, cost me $625.92. That task took the 2 electricians about 45 minutes. Lesson learned. I should have gotten a competitive bid before I had the work done. Also, if there are unknowns going in, make sure you get specific pricing for what those unknowns could potentially cost. The owner made an attempt to smooth this over by offering to refund the $20 overage and 5% of the price, a grand total of $82. I don't feel that is a good-faith offer nor have I received the lousy $82. I've had positive experiences with companies that I have hired through Home Advisor. Hopefully, this is an isolated incident.
