I have been debating if I was going to write this or not as it was a bad experience and is now over, but I wish I knew what I know now before I agreed to have Abiding Place Construction come into my home. People deserve to make educated decisions. Craig seemed like a very nice guy, and was good at keeping me on track while planning the cabinet and floor renovations I had done this summer. Once I picked out the cabinets I wanted installed, I was in Lowe's at the time, I asked him if I paid for the materials that day and he picked it up once the project started, or how the process worked. He said he would purchase the cabinets as he would be able to get them at a discounted rate as a contractor. I thanked him for helping save me money, that was awesome! Once I got the bill, (which I had to ask for an itemized bill and apparently am the only customer of his that has requested this) I found that he did purchase the cabinets at his discount, but then charged me several hundred dollars MORE than I would have paid had I bought them myself from Lowes. That is SHADY. He said that the contract I signed (which stated that if anything cost more than estimated I would have to pay the difference) was a flat rate price. I mistakenly assumed that if I have to pay any cost overages, than I would be reimbursed if things came out cheaper. I also mistakenly signed it in good faith that my contractor was not price gouging or trying to take advantage of me. He did a poor job installing the cabinets, and he knew it. The day after he left saying the job was done, I emailed him about a cabinet door that rubbed, a drawer that stuck so badly you could barely get it open, multiple holes inside the cabinets from the hardware used, and two damaged pieces of laminate that were chipped during installation. He came by the next day to address my issues, and knew exactly where all of my complaints were before I showed him. If you were aware of areas of your installation that are subpar, why would you leave telling your customer everything was done? He also told me that he was aware he used the wrong size screws, but didn't realize it right away, so he just continued. I had gone out to get a pergo patch kit so he could repair the damaged planks, and was asked by the guy at Lowe's if they had sealed my floor at least 4 feet from any water source (as the installation instructions state). I asked Craig about this and he said no. He didn't install my pergo floor correctly, because, in his own words, he "didn't read the directions". This ended up with the floor having to be mostly removed, sealed, and reinstalled. I am not happy that there are multiple holes in the inside of every cabinet, there are gaps in my flooring, there is a plank that is visibly raised from the ones around it, and besause Craig didn't fully understand the online description/dimensions for a corner cabinet, I have lost two drawers and several feet of storage space. I thought that when you paid a profe
