Gave the quality rating based on what I've been told and seen but they haven't done my work yet. Also doing windows & facia and soffit work plus roof vents. As we've been looking at some things we had considered, we've reviewed some of our options. Their willingness to help us do and get the best job possible done, allowed us to expand our agreement. We are now going to do another project and are working on referring Rick to some of our contacts who have work.

I was actually a referral through another customer of HomeAdvisor. They had used Homeadvisor for a lot of projects. I typically just go to a couple friends and see if they have had the work done and if they have someone to refer. We live in the same neighborhood in Va Beach, it is a well established neighborhood with homes that are very big houses. My house is over 30 foot tall and has a lot of different sections. I had been told by a couple people they didn't want to do the work because where the tri was behind the gutters, they said it was just to tall. Anyway I gave them a call and they came out right away. They came out right away. They never even mentioned the height. The contractor worked diligently until the job was done. They never messed up the yard with trash and always spoke real well. If I could put up pics up of before and after a I would. They said they've done that already on their end. I would highly recommend them.

Asphalt Shingle Roofing Repair

The work was started 10 business days after they cashed my deposit check and 3 business days after they said they would be finished with the job. Richard, the project manager, had no communication with me. I had to call him and threaten to report the company before the work got started. Richard wanted me to pay for the balance before the job was complete. The day the job was complete, he continuely ask for the balance and accused me of not wanting to pay for the balance. He told me over text "That's probably not a a good idea not to pay". I told him I wanted to check the work before I finished paying off the balance. Note: I paid the next day. The workers were messy. They left debris in my yard after the job was complete.

I have used ACE Handyman 3 times. Every time I have had a different representative come to my home. I have had the same installers two times, this time it was another installer for a roof repair. I had a roof done less then 4 years ago, meaning the roof was brand new. Ace did not do the roof installed at that time. With all this rain we noticed we had a leak because the ceiling had a discolored spot in the bedroom. We called the other company figuring of course this would be under warranty, no we got no response from this company. We now know they are out of business, the phone number is even disconnected. We called ACE because they have done work on our home before on two other occasions. We figured for sure they would tell us we needed to go to the company who did the roof, they didn't. Ace came out a day that it was actually raining found where the leak was coming in at and fixed it that day. They didn't charge us no emergency service or anything. In this day we have found that finding companies that stand behind there work is like finding a needle in a haystack. Ace is a company you can rely on that always is willing to help out. pleased again ACE. You are a rare find and we're glad we find you. Thanks again!!!

Doors (Exterior) - Install or Replace

The site will not allow me to give this company No stars which is what they deserve. I contracted for 2 entry doors on 5/4/15 and to date have no doors nor have I received my deposit back when I was told that Provia did not make doors in my STANDARD size of 36X80. I have since contracted with another company who is having no problem with Provia in re these same doors. I was first told that the doors came in wrong then when reordered they were wrong again and finally told they didn't come in that size. since it is now July we agreed that my deposit should be refunded. 7/15 I was told that the check would be sent 7/16. After a call on 7/22 I was told it was sent that day. As of 7/25, I still have not received my deposit.
Response from Ace Handyman Window Division, Inc.
"I have the confirmation that the check had been received. As we told you we were sorry for all the trouble. again sometimes orders get confused. Anyway please let us know if you have not received the check, again it was sent certified and we have confirmation it was signed for."

I live in a really old home. I thought I just had a leak in my roof. They explained I had inline gutters that were creating a leak in my roof. Ace not only took those gutters out they put up new gutters. The roof was flat, they built the roof up so it now has a pitch and put up new shingles. They kept a huge dumpster out here the entire time to keep down with the mess. I love the job they did and was happy with the work.

Ace Handyman Window Division, Inc., was wonderful to work with. Richard was always available to answer questions and make any changes or suggestions we had. Ace Handyman repaired or replaced soffits and fascia and wrapped the entire house. He always followed up with his workers to ensure they were doing the best work possible. Richard was also resourceful in providing a tile man to replace broken tiles in the foyer and kitchen. I especially appreciated the way Richard worked within my budget and completed the job within the proposed timeframe. I definitely would recommend Ace Handyman Window Division, Inc. to anyone needing handyman services.

I manage rental properties. I came in contact with Ace through Home Advisor. This was after I thought I had someone to do the work, that person never showed. So I signed up through Home Advisor. Ace called me right away, they came out the next day. I decided to use them only because I was in a severe time crunch to get the work done. That was a great decision. They had 3 days to complete inside and outside work. They did vinyl trim work around the whole property. They had to take down gutters that had rotted out before they even started. Once David took down the gutters there was a lot of rotted wood, they replaced all this first. I had to keep pictures for records and wish I could put these on the review because there was so much wood that had to be replaced. Two entry doors were installed, along with a garage door. The inside work was just some small jobs. They worked on Saturday and Sunday to get this job done in the time fram I needed. I plan on using them for other rental properties I manage as well as my own home. I would recommend Ace as well as Homeadvisor.

Doors (Exterior) - Install or Replace

DO NOT USE! It has been 3 months & project is still not complete. We had to fire one subcontractor due to poor workmanship and being unreliable. I was stood up 3 times by Brandon. He also lost a piece of original stained trim that he removed from our house to use as a template for custom milled woodwork, that we never received. Rich, the Ace Rep we dealt with, has not answered or returned calls or texts in two weeks. The door that we ordered came in wrong, not Rich's fault. Rich asked us if we wanted to reorder the same door, or order a different one. I replied back that day and was told a week later that they were placing the order and it would take 14 days to arrive. Two weeks later they still had not ordered the door. In order to complete this project I had to buy a door from Home Depot, a door that was supposed to be included in Rich's price. There is still drywall work and painting that have not been completed, as well as damage to our hardwood floors. The second subcontractor, Brian, was great. We will be contacting the BBB as well. Save yourself a lot of frustration and avoid using Ace Handyman.
Response from Ace Handyman Window Division, Inc.
"Katie, You didn't pay the final price on the contract that your saying the door was included. We did all the work that was done for 1,500 dollars. There was another 1500.00 dollars owed, that we took off of our price because of the wait for the door. This is the first we're hearing that Brian the guy you said was so good didn't finish the paint and drywall and to repair the floor that Ricky your husband cut into. Brian was supposed to do all of this work. The trim you are correct was lost. We always answered your calls and informed your husband we would pay for the trim piece that was lost."

I had a gutter get pulled off my home during a storm. We were already thinking of having gutter cover installed that coming fall. We thought for sure we were gonna have to have all new gutters done. We could've not afforded to do both gutters and covers. ACE came out to the home and instead of trying to do both the gutters and gutter guard they relined our old gutters and got everything back up. Then they put on the guard things. This was a great company and I would tell anyone to use them.

The communications during the whole process was less than adequate. many excuses but little action. We were not rushed to have the job done. but, when they said they would show...they didn't for a whole week. Workman rushed to finish the job, leaving behind their trash, throwing some in a neighbors yard and never picking up nails and bit of trim.

I CAN-NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY, THAT DOES BUSINESS AND TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS THIS WAY! We are having our daughter’s outdoor Wedding at our home in approximately 1 month and knew we had to get the house exterior looking new again and lower our maintenance costs. There were or I should say still is 7 of the 9 projects we wanted to get done remaining. We thought we were hiring professionals, however, we are very disappointed with 1 of 3 owners we spoke and complained too concerning their workmanship. Here we are 1 month from the wedding and they have ABANDONED us, knowing our predicament and feel we have to accept their Sub-Quality work to get them back out here to FINISH AND CLEAN up their work and mess! Our house is only 11yrs old, however, the elements has taken its toll on our front and back of the house. Its beyond repainting and touchup. Its replacement time requiring new wood, protection, sealant, etc. On our front porch there are (5) 10" sq. wood columns and (2) 10" wood newels’ on the bottom of the stairs with wood railings. Item #1-Remove bad wood in existing columns and replace. Out of 28 plywood sides (4 per column) ONLY 4 were replaced. Item #2 Wrap columns with new PVC-C. They used 2 PVC wraps per column resulting in 2 Seams per column instead of 1 single wrap per column with a SINGLE Seam towards the back of each column and out of plain view. All of the new PVC column seams, 2 per column have either buckled or warped and you cant hide them from plain view because there’s 2 seams,1 on each side. When we complained to the owner, she said to do it right would cost an additional $1600 for BRAND NEW vinyl columns. I replied and said “that's subtracting the vinyl I won't need correct?” and their exact words were "I can't afford to subtract anything off,I need to get this job done and move on". REALLY! You want me to fork out another $1600 because you can’t get it right making it a grand total of $9k when it’s all done and I’m not impressed with what has been accomplished so far! #3 Replace rails with pressure treated rails, paint and finish. Only 2 of the 8 rails were replaced. #4 Re-paint 10 window shutters (5 pairs). Finally they did something right. #5 Prep, treat and finish rear deck and railing with custom deck treatment Restore-finish. The prep from power washing was good, the re-treatment of the deck - I’d say 85% good. 3 area’s of the deck continue to have white spots seeping through the treatment and Restore-finish. Do they re-strip these area’s and re-apply treatment. NO, they add another coat of Restore-finish, hoping it will go away! #6 Include Pergola (wash and re-paint). They painted over my 10yr old vines and outdoor lights wrapped around each Pergola post. No-attention to detail, or drop cloth played down, just slapped paint on to get it over with. #7 Power wash and remove mildew build up from patio and rear patio side of home (brick). Giving credit where its due - Good Job Power-Washing. Item #8 Custom caulk windows with c

Mold contaminated drywall and make a weatherproof repair to a small roof area was the project. Person making estimate (known by ACE as the dollar to be paid contract) provided for labor and material costs justifying the cost. Three day project start date was changed twice because of illness in our family. Woman scheduler was always glad to make date changes. The one man "team" arrived to start work on date the had been changed. He had not been told of the change. Note ACE employees do not carry company identification. When it became apparent that the provided statement of work and material was grossly overstated we tried to contact the person who provided the cost. He was not available for over a week and was never contacted. With only about 50 % of the work and 30% of the stated material originally listed as required I tried to work with the only contacted ACE rep, now claiming to be in charge, but initially could not get credit for work or material over statements. Her point was we were obligated to pay the price. I finally was able to get her to reduce the price by $250 of the original price of over $3000. Other issues were we needed to provide much of the materials and tools. When a can of paint and dry wall mud as needed the worker went to buy the items but called from the store for a reedit card number as he did not have any money. Black mold which was to be removed by replacing the contaminated dry wall was marly scraped off and painted over. Furniture was not protected from drywall dust extensive molding was to be replaced was not and seams poorly matched. The young man was very nice but obversely not experienced even though we were told he was the BEST THEY HAD. Agree he was nice and pleasant. Materials and my shop vac were left outside. This company may be good as window replacement but not recommended for other interior work.

We hired Ace to install a radiant barrier in our attic. The day before they were supposed to come out for the install we had to leave town for a family emergency. We returned home on a Saturday and they had a crew out there that day to install. Job was completed in one day and they left the house just as clean as it was when they arrived. We plan on using these guys again if we have another project.
