"Elizabeth, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Quality, budget, and deadlines are very important to us, but so is your satisfaction throughout the process. Please keep us in mind for your next project as we offer a 5-year warranty on all our projects."
"Hi Angela -- As you know, we have been communicating regularly with you to address your concerns. We're still committed to working with you regarding your concerns and actively doing so. Please feel free to contact our office directly anytime. We encourage all our clients to have adequate financing in place prior to beginning a project. We were initially starting your project in December 2021, but that was pushed back to February 2022 for non-payment reasons. It is difficult to guarantee any kind of a timeline when funding and timely payments have been an issue for most of this project. As you have discovered, very few lenders, if any, will finance a large-scale project after work has begun, leaving you to seek funds through other means. Although we are a mid-sized construction firm, we do not have the liquidity to float the project costs for each of our clients. Our contract is that as we complete work you make timely progress payments on invoices that are sent. Labor and material shortages have plagued our industry since the economy shut down for CoVid in 2020 and we are only now beginning to see signs of them normalizing late in 2022. This is not unique to construction as a most industry are experiencing this on a global scale. This is why we typically order all materials in advance of starting any project so that can properly set a timeline based on lead times of materials. When projects are not properly funded it compounds project delays as we are unable to order materials timely or make timely payments to our trade partners. Additionally, trade partners tend to prioritize projects they feel confident they will be paid on when their work is completed. I am happy that we were able to work through those financial issues and that we are now nearly finished 6 months later. We are committed to wrapping up this project for you as soon as you have your homeowner-supplied countertops installed and fan lights on site which I understand are still a few weeks out. Should you have any more concerns please reach out to us directly and we would be happy to work with you to address each of these concerns. Thank you for your honest and sincere feedback we know you will be happy with your space once its completed."
"Hi, George. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. We are happy to help you further should you have any more concerns please contact our office directly. We definitely have a very specific and detailed process here at Active Design & Build. We believe in the dialing into the planning process prior to starting the build so the result is a smother build process. Given the large-scale project you are undertaking this is a critical step that is sometimes rushed or overlooked entirely by homeowners, leading to problems occurring during the build. Active Design & Build is unique, in that we offer a, "Design Only", option so that you can feel confident in our fixed bids to complete the build. You elected this option; our policy is to collect payment in full prior to releasing our proprietary designs as it is our only way to guarantee payment for the design work. Although we had built trust with you by the time you made your request to receive a copy of our "permit ready" designs prior to making your full payment, we were not comfortable accommodating your request until we collected full payment for them as your intent was to "solicit bids from other contractors" at that time. Furthermore, we are a fully insured licensed General Contractor who can not begin work without an approved building permit. I understand that some builders might be okay bending the rules, however we are not okay with risking our license or insurance company dropping us because you were asking us to begin work prior to finishing the design and having a permit. Again, we are here and happy to help you further with this issue if you would like to contact our office directly."
"Christian - Love the before and after! We're thrilled you're loving the new space, both aesthetically and functionally. You were a pleasure to work with, let us know if something comes up that we need to fix under our 5 year warranty and keep us in mind for your next project."
"Patrick, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Quality, budget and deadlines are very important to us, but so is your satisfaction throughout the process. You are now a Basement Friend Forever, so don't be a stranger!"
"Phillip, thank you so much for your review. We are so happy you love your new space. We love it too! I'm sure you and your friends and family will enjoy the upgrades for years to come. It was a pleasure working with you. As a reminder, we are here if you need anything. All of your documents are saved in our system for the next 5 years, through the life of your warranty. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns and we will be happy to assist you."
"Hi, Tom. Thank you for your sincere review. We are so sorry your project aligned during such an unusual global event and it has extended the completion date of your project. We are frustrated too. As a company, we were not prepared to respond to a pandemic and it sent us, along with the rest of the industry, reeling. Between permitting and inspections offices completely shutting down for months, and having to furlough several employees, we have admittedly been left wounded and humbled, and we are working hard to pick up the pieces. You are correct that one of our owners (Paul) had to make a difficult life choice to pursue a more secure paycheck early on in these uncertain economic times, as did many people globally. However, we are greasing up the cogs and are starting to rehire furloughed employees and get back on track. We are confident that under normal circumstances, your project would have been completed in 2 months, as promised. As a reminder, your remodel is covered under our 5-year warranty should you have any concerns about the quality of work performed during the timeline of your project. Please contact us directly if you have any questions and we will be happy to assist you."
