Bathtub or Other Bath or Kitchen Surface Resurface or Reface
$600
Started out really well, then had to reschedule because of conflict in their scheduling; Sanded and primed one day planned to come back and complete on 2nd day, had to reschedule day 2nd day. Finally showed up continued job at end of day left with expectation that runs and voids would be fixed Monday morning . Monday morning never came; phone calls unanswered shower is still a mess, also left overspray on hardwood floors that had to be cleaned up. If considering you would be better off never starting than have a bigger mess to finish than before the job started not to mention having to hire a second to clean up their mess.

Let me begin by saying this company offers powder coating as tub reglaze and it is not. Powder coating is a finish that must be done with specific equipment in a spray booth,. The finish must first be sandblasted. The powder coating is applied with an by air and applied with an electrostatic nozzle. The entire piece being coated has particles with the specialized gun and nozzle then is heated (390 degrees ) until the particles melt create a formfitting flat coating for shaped metal...Then it must be cured using a convection or infrared oven. It can also be cured using a laser curing system. None of this equipment I feel sure was in his truck. So now we do not know what this tub was painted with because no product was left behind. I suspect it is an epoxy. I do not believe it was an epoxy that was designed for tubs as it did not leave a smooth finish and has several places that contain curtaining (long heavy drips that look like curtains hanging in windows) These are things I know as I spent 15 years working for Sherwin Williams Company and specialized in Industrial and Chemical coatings. I have been involved with setting up powder coating equipment and product with multiple industries. My father has over 40 years with the same company. And speaking of my father, he called Rick Clayton and asked for an estimate. Mr Clayton came to the house, met with my dad and told him that day was the only day he had available or it would be months before he could come back. My father agreed to a price of $400. He was given the address of the rental house that needed the work and was let in by my friend because my father is 84 years old and has mobility issues and not able to walk without assistance. Several hours later Mr. Clayton came back to my fathers home and told him that the job was more difficult that expected and now the bill was $600. Dad felt he had no options and wrote a check that Mr. Clayton went directly to the bank and cashed it making it impossible for me to stop payment. He has not returned any of my calls requesting he call ME back. I am my fathers power of attorney as he is not in good health and is elderly. So far - no call. Here is the problem - if this is a powder coat as Mr. Clayton stated he provided it must be sandblasted off, washed with a 98% sulfuric acid or removed by using air temperature of up to 1500 degrees. Then of course we will need to repaint/re-glaze and allow to cure. All of this time it is of course a rental house with a paying tenant occupying it and I cannot even imaging the expense of the repair procedure :( Through looking though online business records I cannot find a license, insurance or bonding. His business phone has been disconnected and I am now leaving messaged on his personal phone. Pretty much WE ARE SCREWED !!!
