"Homeowner would not allow my employees to complete job. Yes, there were not gutters on the house for three days due to storms in the area which makes sealing gutters impossible. However, four rain storms does not cause the damage this homeowner claims was caused by us (cement blocks don't crack in half within four days!). Supplier did short us a few downpipes, and so we put some up that we had on hand that were the wrong color until supplier opened on Monday and we could replace them, we also told him to withhold some of the payment due until this was done. When guys went back on Monday to change these out, homeowner told them to leave, he would finish job because it was raining. Homeowner lied and said we told him to knock money off balance due because we had to come back out again. Homeowner requested we use his wood, that was what he wanted on his home. We have our own ladders, tools, etc. and did not need the homeowner's and the only reason he "helped" them is because he wanted his 108 year old cedar boards planed and cut his way. They left enough downpipes behind to complete the job without homeowner having to go buy anything, in fact, they left downpipes that belong to our company, not this job, because he ran them off, but nothing was incomplete, only wrong color! He thought it was "cool" that I carry a side arm when we bid the job, don't know why it was a problem when I went to collect payment. When I went back to collect the balance still owed (employees had not told me that homeowner told them to leave due to rain and that he would finish at this point), he proceeded to be VERY disrespectful to me and even cussed at me. I did not argue with them, I just walked away. If I have to check on my employees or sit and babysit them, why do I need employees? If they have questions or don't know about something or need help with something, they know how to use a phone and call me. My guys know what they are doing and don't need me or anyone else breathing down their necks every minute. I did check out the job when I went to collect payment, that's all that I should have to do. I noticed downpipes were still wrong color and that's when I was told my guys were told they were done, my company was done. As I was walking back to my vehicle, I was yelled and cussed at about the foundation. We were sent pictures of this and having been in and around the construction field most of my life, I know that their foundation damage was not caused overnight, or even within four days."
"I don?t understand why this homeowner would have paid my guys without making sure the job was done to satisfaction. Also, why include a note thanking us for such prompt service? What kind of gear is needed to clean gutters that my guys didn?t have? And most importantly why not contact me directly if there were issues?"
