At Meadowlands Decorating Center we specialize in custom upholstery of all kinds; Residential and Commercial projects. Everything from pillows to a small seat cushion, sofas, chairs of all kinds-from antique to contemporary. We also do kitchen banquettes, headboards, restaurant seating, hotels, churches, hospitals and mall seating, and just new foam for cushions. We can bring the fabric to you and can provide you decorating assistance with all your re-upholstery, and window and drapery projects. We design and make custom draperies and custom window treatments including blinds, shades, shutters as we are Graber, Hunter Douglas and Comfortex distributors. We are members of Rotary and are very involved in the community doing leadership training for high school juniors, gui Chairs' That Care: we developed this charitable program as a way to help people

in need receive recycled furniture. We work with many community service groups such as

fire depts. police depts., who have contacts to the persons in need. Not only do

we help those down on their luck, but this is also helping the enviornment with re-

cycling usable furniture. Feel good about buying new furniture and donate your old!

Carl and Yvonne were really great to work with. Yvonne was knowledgeable and very helpful in choosing the right material for my 2 sofas. They delivered on time as promised and Carl made adjustments for me without any additional cost. I will be definitely going back.

My husband and I had four dinette chairs that needed to be reupholstered. We also had a leather recliner that was splitting at the seam. I found Meadowlands Decorating Center on HomeAdvisor. I called and set up an appointment with Yvonne. Yvonne and Carl came to my home with many swatches of fabric to choose from. They were lovely people and also very professional. They spent time with me and answered all of my questions. We even told them we didn't need the chairs back by Thanksgiving. They surprised me with a call that they were completed a couple of days prior to the holiday! The price was very fair and I was thrilled with the results. This included the fixed ripped seam in the recliner! Would highly recommend them. Lori E (Allendale NJ)

Gave my beloved 25 year old Chesterfield a new life. Replaced worn seat with new cushions, repaired broken spring, and made look like new. VERY nice people, really easy to work with, accommodating of my schedule. Got other quotes, and they did this repair for substantially less. Couldn't imaging I'd have gotten better service or have been happier with the result if I'd gone elsewhere. Hope I have an opportunity to work with them again.

Small outfit so large jobs impact their focus and response time
Response by Meadowlands Decorating Center, LLC: Well, don't know what this comment means since being a small shop in regards to custom, hands on assistance, patience and time that we had given to this customer's wife, no other small outfit; having a 4,500 sq ft workshop and several upholsterers..not too small, would not have been able to make this couple happy! The initial project request came in 7/18/2016. It took us several weeks of calls and e-mails to reach them and they came to our shop 8/5/2016. They wanted to change the whole style of 2 dining room chairs and re-fabricate them to look like parson chairs. A parson chair is completely upholstered as a square shape with everything being upholstered including the wood legs. James and his wife looked at many fabrics here for several hours. They requested many fabric swatches, which my assistant had ordered, at no charge! We get charged $5.00 a swatch. Needles to say that assistant is no longer with us, however, after James & his wife finally decided on fabric, which took them a couple months, they called after a couple weeks to say they changed their minds again on the fabric. I then took many hours choosing other swatches and mailed. Weeks later, after calling and checking to see if they made a decision, they decided on one. Now the actual upholstery project: not a small task and something we customized for them, they wanted these 2 chair changed to a parson style look. The 2 wood dining chairs were curved in the back and had all wood legs with a different style seat, which we re-fabricated, padded, re-upholstered everything and designed them to look like the 4 parson style chairs they had. This upholstery did take time to do but while we were changing the style of the chairs, the fabric they finally decided on after months of choosing, was back-ordered by the fabric co! We had to wait several more weeks to receive it...nothing we have control over. All the while, I was reaching out to them when I had any update from the fabric co, when we would receive. So much time was spent sending fabric swatches, calls on when fabric coming in...they went on vacation in between all this..a lot of time and energy spent by this small shop to make this couple happy! Finally, when we received their fabric, we were in the midst of the Christmas projects we were already working on because we had received those projects fabrics. I called them to see if they needed for Christmas; they said no, and for us to take our time, so we completed them in March. After James came to pick up the chairs, I had called to make sure again that they were happy with them and he said they were but his wife didn't like the timing. I explained most of the time was his wife's indecision on the fabric, the back order of fabric, not our control etc.. We pride ourselves in accommodating projects such as grandma's small rocker cushion to doing upholstery for mall's, restaurants, churches, and we did the best we could to accommodate this family and make them happy! AND NOW I RECEIVE THIS RATING AFTER 7 MONTHS OF THEM HAVING THE CHAIRS! Oh well.....YES, THERE IS ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO A STORY!

Yvonne and Carl are the most professional and interactive team you could ask for. They gave good advice for fabric selection and were most patient as I figured things out. Just got the chair back and it is stunning! I plan to contract with them again in the near future.

Response by Meadowlands Decorating Center, LLC: Really enjoyed working with Wilfredo and his wife on this project but was a little disappointed in falling short of him giving us a 5 star rating. However, I didn't charge them our regular pick up and delivery since they told me they would come to our shop to look at fabric with the understanding that Wilfredo would take the dining seats off and bring them with him. Upon their arrival, he did not have the seats with him but I assisted them in looking for fabric. Now we would have to go to them, unscrew the seats from the base of the chair and will have to delivery them back when completed. Wilfredo and his wife did choose a fabric but later had changed their minds on the fabric they choose. I spent time to look for another fabric I thought they would like better so they did get my decorating expertise for free as I only charged them for the labor of doing the re-upholstery with all new foam. After returning to our shop to look at the other fabric I choose for them, they did decide to move forward with the project. When their seats were completed, I actually drove to them from East Rutherford to West Orange and personally screwed them back on for them. I happened then to run into a problem with the last screw for their last chair as it seemed to have stripped and wouldn't hold the seat in that last screw hole. Wilfredo brought out his drill and he and I drilled another hole so I could get the screw to hold the seat which I was proud to have accomplished for them! Wilfredo also saved on not getting charged for pick up and delivery per our initial conversation. I think this is more value for his money! But thank you very much Wilfredo for the 5 Quality and 5 Customer Service!! I did have fun working with you and found out I haven't lost my touch working with tools!

The reupholstered sofa was well done. My problem was the overcharge of storage which I was unaware of. It was written on the reverse side of the contract but was not called to my attention. Due to a pipe wall breakage in my condo, I had to wait months for storage, flooring, new walls and painting. Although unforeseen by anyone of this happening, they did not want to budge on their storage charge. I explained the situation that the building wouldn't let them in because of the floors, etc. They told me, "everyone has a problem and we are not a warehouse."
Response by Meadowlands Decorating Center, LLC: We picked up this customers sofa 7/13. We were told by this customer that she needed it completed by the 3rd week of August which we did. Our contract states that there is a $5.00 per day storage fee after 15 days that a customer is called to have the furniture delivered. We called her several times and were told by the customer about another delay and then another delay. We did not start charging her a storage fee after her first delaying us. We did not start to charge any storage fee until 9/8 because that day we were planning on delivering according to her but again she said the floors still weren't done and then she was having painting done which she never told us about. She did tell us that she had the rest of her furniture put into storage also. Our storage fee of $5.00 per day x 34 days only came to $170.00. We can not pay a storage fee for a customer! What we do is re-upholstery....the quality of our work shows in her 5 star review. We are not a storage facility and don't have space to keep everyone's furniture for months and months! Our customer service was great having to also deal with us receiving her damaged fabric, taking time to send her text pictures of the damaged fabric that we received from her fabric company...we usually charge a $50 fabric inspection fee which we also waived. We then had to put her sofa aside and wait for new fabric which also delayed our production line....we went over and above to try to please this customer but having to stay with our policies and contract, didn't please her because she wanted us to just forget all her delays and we had to do to accommodate her and lose money. We are not in business to loose money. We are in the business to do beautiful upholstery work and make our customers happy with the work we do...and we did that!
