They never finished the stucco job. Won't honor the contract and left a huge mess.

This job was done in Santa Fe. I initially sought the repair and resurfacing of a synthetic stucco façade on my home through Home Advisor. Xmplar salespeople were quick to sell their services and collect a 50% deposit. Their company affiliation to Andersen Renewal seemed like a plus. After that, it was all a downhill experience. The 3-day contract cancellation deadline occurred before there was a chance to learn that I had chosen the wrong company. Poor communication within the chain of command and questionable job performance resulted in delays and adjustments to the project. Whole days went by without knowing if or when workers would arrive. Once started, a mess ensued with foam particles churned into my driveway gravel, surrounding landscape and cement residue on all nearby surfaces. Adjacent bronze toned window frames were in some instances scraped down to the metal. To their credit, crew members came back to make some amends and to clean up their mess, but only after my complaints. The final product is just OK, but only because of my supervision of this costly project. As a homeowner, I should not have been forced into that role, often wishing that I had hired a more professional contractor for this job.

I hired these folks because they were supposedly the best in town. Well, they sent guys with ankle monitors (a felon of some type) to my house to look in my windows and get up close and personal with the items in my home. I was furious. They were supposed to start with water blasting the old stucco off. They just started stuccoing and I had to go out there and tell them to stop and where were the pressure washer and why werent they pressure washing first as according to the contract. Well, they had to send out for one. A man showed up with one about an hour later with a pawn shop tag on the unit. But, they finally did pressure wash it after A LOT of angry yelling from me. My decorative boulders were used to stand on and were left with the white stucco caked to them. When they left, they did NOT clean up after themselves very well. After all the problems, four weeks later, the job was done. It looks marvelous, but the headache wasnt worth it.

Patched cracks and then re-stuccoed whole house with synthetic stucco. Overall great job. Just a few cleanup issues. Also, first rain washed a white frothy substance down out of the stucco onto all our windows. Company said they would pay for a free cleaning but that never happened.

6+ Room New Window Service
Love the windows and the install went great. The windows themselves were installed and the interior frame was great. However, when they went to install the exterior frame, it didn't quite cover the stucco. They did bring in a stucco guy, however, I wasn't really impressed with them. We had to really push to get the stucco fixed the next day so that we could get the scheduled stucco completed the following day.

Excellent work...I had 2 bathrooms remodeled. They were very clean and neat, and very courteous. Took about 7 weeks from order to completion, but it was worth the wait. Total cost was about $18,500.

The people who did the measuring for my new kitchen cabinets did a poor job, resulting in a delay of two months while I waited for the correct cabinets. Try being without a functioning kitchen for over two months. However, James, the gentleman who did the installation, went over and above in his work. He is extremely competent, took pride in his work, and did everything to ensure that the job was finally completed.

The job took more than a week when 1 day was promised. One room had to be repainted. No team but just one guy who worked part-time. House was torn up for a week! Would never recommend for painting!!!

Overall, we have only done planning. Have had a disconnect on start date due to a cabinet problem. This was a $37,000 job and I was surprised that delays happened.

My project was probably one of the smaller ones they do, but from the care they took, you'd have thought it was a really big project. I had a tub removed and a walk in shower installed. From the time they came to show me their products through all the measuring process, they were always on time and called to let me know they were on their way. James did the work on my house. He was very careful and took all the time he needed to make sure that everything was done correctly. He was very neat, and cleaned up after himself each day. The work took about a day longer than I expected, but I didn't mind, because the work was professionally done. I would hire Surface Innovations again if I have another home project, and I would recommend them to my friends. The only caution I would invite you to take is to make sure that each fixture you are expecting is specifically listed on the sales agreement. At the end of the project, I asked where the shower curtain was. That night, I got out my sales agreement, and sure enough, it was not listed, so I couldn't expect it to be included. When James arrived the next morning, I told him that I had made a mistake and asked him if he would install a shower curtain rod if I would run to the store to get it. He had brought one that he picked up on his way to my house. How thoughtful! Customer satisfaction was paramount in my experience. I will hire them again!

Installation was scheduled to begin April 4th. However, late on the third I was called and told they would begin on Monday, April 9, which they did. The installers were extremely hard workers and paid attention to all details. When installation was finally completed late on Wednesday, the 11th, I was told not to used the shower until Friday. Up to this point, everything seemed well done, great installers and no problems. But when I went to use the shower on Friday, April 13, there was no hot water. I called Larry, the owner, and he said they could not come until Monday,the 16th. The installer came, made a quick adjustment, and left. I immediately discovered that I could not get cold water. He returned, and after completing the necessary adjustments, it turns out that the hot and cold water are reversed, i.e. hot on right and cold on left. I have resolved this by reversing the label so the indicator is correct and it is no longer an issue. The owner, Larry, stayed on top of everything from start to finish, and the result is beautiful.
