Abel's team is quick and polite but they lack a lot in attention to detail and taking accountability for their own mistakes. We had a few pieces of our laminate floor that had manufacturer errors that were easily seen. Even though we ended up with extra material after the installation, Abel's team didn't take the time to check for mistakes before installing the floor. After letting Abel know about the mistake, they said they couldn't do anything to fix it, and the sole path forward is to uninstall and reinstall at an extra cost. To make it worse, this mistake is in almost every room and in the most high traffic areas. I see it every single day and it's driving me crazy.

While our experience with Aguilar Hardwoods started with promising conversation the result of our interaction and install is best summarized with one word: DEVASTATING. This father and son company was introduced to us through our flooring supplier. We spoke at length about the job, walked the house, talked about material orientation, and reviewed pictures/materials of their prior work before moving forward with purchase of material to work on our home. 2.5 weeks after starting a quoted 6-8 day job we are stuck with a partially installed floor that still requires finishing. After repeated missteps, lack of attention to detail and follow through, a disrespectful foreman, use of incorrect glue, and repeatedly cutting short our beautiful century old reclaimed flooring I was forced layout 2/3 of the flooring and supervise nearly every hour of the installation. This all to ensure the beauty of the expensive flooring was not ruined. Nearing the end of the install, two threshold boards for my kids adjacent rooms were installed incorrectly. One was installed crooked and the other a full inch out of line with the first. See attached pictures. Aguilar blamed me for not telling him the thresholds should be visually consistent with the drywall. We have had to tear these out and we are presently working to fix. This is only one of numerous specific examples I can provide Aguilar then submitted a bill that was nearly twice the original estimate stating I had made their job more difficult by laying out flooring for the final install. His crew took 2 weeks to lay and install 1/2 the flooring in the house due to starts, stops, and issues with following even his own recommendations to us for the installation. I laid out the final 1/2 the house which his 3rd crew installed in 1.5 days. Yes, 3rd separate crew on the job. Despite all these issues we agreed to pay an extra 25% (not the double bill) to finish the job and have them return to sand and seal the floor so we could move back in. Aguilar cashed the check and then sent an email the following morning telling us to find someone else to finish the job. For the data junkies out there: The flooring Aguilar installed in our kitchen was cut to an average length of about 4ft. 31 boards are under 3ft. Yep, our delivered lumber ranged from 4-14 feet and we have 31 boards cut to under 3 ft in just one medium sized room. 6 boards are under 12 inches For comparison, the master bedroom as laid out by my father and me has an average board length of 7.5 feet with some as long as 12ft. Only 2 boards under 3ft. At a material cost to me of over $10/ft and 10 weeks to receive this flooring, we thought we hired an expert to oversee, install, and finish this project. To tear out, reorder and replace the short boards with long one as discussed repeatedly will cost us months of time and in excess of $10k. We have already paid over $12k to Aguilar for this job and are now stuck finding someone else to finish the job.
