Air Duct King

Work was very well explained and done, especially the mold treatment in air ducts. Would have given 5 stars except for the cost--too much for 1/2 day's work.

John (no last name provided) gave me a quote of $400 over the phone. That seemed reasonable to me so I agreed to have him clean the vents in my home, which is a two-story with approx. 2400 sq. ft. with a basement. John cleaned the vents in the first and second floors then started on the basement. He pointed out that he found black mold and asked if I wanted him to continue. I didn't want to leave the job half done so I agreed. He told me the cost would be $4,363.93 a I could pay with a check, Venmo, cash or one other way. He advised that if I paid with cash he wouldn't have to charge the 8% tax, so I paid $4,300.00 in cash. Now in hindsight I'm questioning the charge of $4,300. The receipt I received did not indicate a business address for Air Duct King LLC and the phone number was crossed out and his phone number written in. I wish I could have another person review the work done and advise if the price paid was more than the work actually warranted, which I feel it was.

On May 30, 2026, I hired Air Duct King LLC to clean the HVAC duct systems at my duplex. Before the appointment, I was quoted approximately $400 per HVAC system, for an expected total of approximately $800. After arriving at the property, John McCoy engaged in what I believe were high-pressure sales tactics and a bait-and-switch pricing scheme. After quoting approximately $400 per HVAC system, he claimed there was mold contamination in the ductwork and showed me photographs that he represented as evidence of mold in my system. Based on those representations, I agreed to additional services, including mold treatment. The final invoice increased to $2,898.61, which I paid via Venmo. I no longer believe the photographs shown to me accurately depicted my HVAC system. Those photographs were a significant factor in my decision to authorize thousands of dollars in additional charges. When I later requested copies of the photographs, Mr. McCoy stated in text messages that he no longer had them. On June 2, 2026, only two days after the service, I arranged for an independent inspection by a NADCA-certified air duct cleaning professional. The inspector advised me that there was absolutely no mold present in the ductwork and that no mold remediation had been performed. The inspector specifically told me that he found absolutely no mold in the ducts and that no mold-remediation work had been done despite the mold-treatment charges appearing on the invoice. The NADCA-certified inspector also advised me that, in his professional opinion, the ductwork had not actually been cleaned and that Mr. McCoy had cleaned only enough to make it appear that the ducts had been cleaned. The inspector documented the condition of the system with photographs showing visible dust and debris remaining within portions of the ductwork only two days after the service. I believe I was persuaded to purchase unnecessary mold-related services through high-pressure sales tactics, representations that were not accurate, and photographs that I no longer believe reflected the actual condition of my HVAC system. An independent NADCA-certified inspection conducted only two days later found absolutely no mold in the ductwork, no evidence that mold remediation had been performed, and significant debris remaining in the system. I am requesting a refund and Angi's assistance in resolving this matter.

John was great to work with. He even responded to txt late at night. He was on time, professional, he helped move furniture I couldn’t, explained what condition my vents were in, provided a written estimate, no pressure sales. I would highly recommend his services.

John was very friendly. He explained what he was doing and why. Cleaned furnace , dryer and all the vents. Showed me the dehumidifier was all moldy. He removed the filter and installed a light to extract the mold spores. Very pleased with the job John did. Would highly recommend his company.

John took the time to discuss our options and then proceeded with the work we authorized. Any additional work was documented with a written estimate and pictures. Very personable and took the time to clean up after himself in ear work area of the home. Highly recommended!!

We were original happy with the speed that he was able to come out. His equipment is just a huge shop vac and air compressor. Thought we were getting a deal but then attempted to upsell on need to have a mold treatment. Showed my wife a picture of one of the vents but then could not recall what room it was in. Good thing we opted for second opinion. After calmer heads took over we started trying to figure out which room and cannot match the picture to any vents. I then decided to open on my own and take a look before second opinion arrived. I was shocked that our cold air returns (trunks we paid extra for) are still dirty especially in the middle so basically just blew the crap around. These pictures are screen shots off my camera phone and only 6 days since treatment.

Very nice and polite fellow but you can/should do this on your own. It's just a hose hooked up to an air compressor...tries to upsell you on going into the furnace to clean (which I assumed was part of the initial package). I'll just do it myself forever going forward.

While the person who assisted us was very kind and prompt in scheduling the service, and arriving - we didn't have any prior experience to compare it with. One suggestion we have is for the service provider to include before and after photos to better illustrate the improvements made. It would be very helpful for us to see the tangible results of the service. Additionally, we noticed a significant amount of dirt and dust on the furnace air filter for the next two days following the service. We're not sure if this is normal, and our furnace technician mentioned that it seemed like we didn't receive the full value for what we paid for.

John was very knowledgeable about air vents and duct work. We moved into our house 8 years ago and have no pets, but the previous owner did. I wanted to get the vents cleaned to remove any dust and pet dander. He identified mold in our vents almost immediately. He was able to clean all of our vents and installed a remedy for the mold. Very professional and he explained everything a few times to make sure I understood what was needed and could relay to my husband via phone call. Would recommend to anyone who needs their air vents cleaned.
