Central A/C Service or Repair
Date of transactions: Approximately February 2026 through August 5, 2026 Amounts: Approximately $360 maintenance agreement; more than $8,000 for an indoor air-quality/filtration/UV/surge-protection system; approximately $96 for the disputed service visit. What the business committed to provide: I hired Aire Serv of South Texas after my less-than-one-year-old HVAC system began freezing and not cooling properly. Aire Serv diagnosed the system as needing cleaning and routine maintenance every six months. Based on that recommendation, I purchased an approximately $360 maintenance plan. After a technician thoroughly cleaned the system, it worked extremely well. I later purchased more than $8,000 in additional air-quality, filtration, UV and surge-protection equipment from Aire Serv. Nature of dispute: Approximately two months ago, my AC became sluggish and I requested an early maintenance cleaning. The technician did not perform the requested cleaning. Instead, he claimed my ductwork was the problem, apparently based on insulation visible near a vent. To my knowledge, he did not properly inspect the ductwork or establish that it caused my HVAC problems. I was nevertheless charged approximately $96. During this visit, I instructed the technician to gather his equipment and leave my home. He did not immediately comply. I am a 60-year-old woman who lives alone, and having a service technician remain inside my home after being expressly told to leave was extremely concerning. On August 4, 2026, at approximately 7:00 p.m., my AC made a clanking noise. I shut it off, checked and replaced the filter, and attempted to restart it. The system would not turn on. At approximately midnight, I contacted Aire Serv for emergency service because the company advertises 24/7 emergency HVAC service. No technician responded. After repeated calls, at approximately 7:00 a.m. I was told everyone was in a meeting and nobody could come until after 10:00 a.m. At approximately 9:29 a.m., Aire Serv representative Victoria called and stated that unless I had my ductwork cleaned, Aire Serv would not send a technician. I disputed this because my HVAC system will not turn on and no proper diagnostic inspection has established that ductwork caused the failure. I asked for a manager and was told the managers were out on service calls, despite previously being told personnel were unavailable because they were in a meeting until 10:00 a.m. Has the business attempted to resolve the issue? No satisfactory resolution has been offered. Instead, Aire Serv has refused to dispatch a technician unless I address the alleged ductwork issue. I am not refusing legitimate repairs. I am requesting that Aire Serv first inspect and diagnose the non-operational HVAC system and provide evidence supporting any claim that ductwork is responsible. Advertising involved: Aire Serv of South Texas advertises 24/7 emergency HVAC repair/service on its company website. I relied upon Aire Serv's service representations and my existing relationship with the company when requesting emergency service on August 5, 2026. Despite contacting the company beginning around midnight, emergency service was not provided. Requested resolution: I request that Aire Serv promptly send a qualified technician or supervisor to properly diagnose my HVAC system without conditioning service on purchasing duct cleaning or replacement; provide the diagnosis in writing; refund the approximately $96 charge for the prior visit where the requested maintenance was not performed; address whether my paid maintenance agreement is being honored; and provide a written response regarding the technician's failure to promptly leave my residence after being instructed to do so. I have sent this to the BBB. Aire Serv is not a registered BBB member . I trusted Angi . Had I not known they were not a registered business. I would have never spent money with them. I would have a legitimate business
