Chain Link Fence Installation
The installation was terrible. Two unsupervised workers were left to do the job alone. Only half the new fencing I paid for was used. Now John Johnston will not take my calls or answer my messages. He promised a great job, but there are problems and he refuses to talk or deal with me or fix the problems. I cannot even hire another fence company until he gives me the materials I paid for. So disappointed; we have been dealing with this since the first of this year.

Hardest workers you will ever meet-- the price was very fair, work ethic and quality top notch--My only advice is that John is fair, honest and good at what he does he is just not the best communicator you ever met. Will definitely use him again

UPDATE 09/23/2019: He finally refunded our deposit. ***** I am hesitant to say much because this may be going to court soon if we are not returned our deposit. They never showed up to do the work or delivered supplies. Never called to say they would be late or not showing up. Company never attempted to start the work within the mutually agreed to time frame and has not returned our deposit. At this point we only want our money back.

They did a good job once they finally arrived. I spoke with John/Josh at length when the job was completed telling him that he needed to improve his communication skills. He needed to be honest with people and realistic and let the customer know when they would be on the job site. I suggested calling the customer the night before to confirm arrival and planning 2-3 weeks out to provide &;weather room&; in their schedule. Putting up a fence is not typically a life & death situation and most customers are willing to work with the installers IF they know what the plan is.

Everything was good until John's guys didn't show up on the agreed upon date. After multiple phone calls and texts, our fence was finally installed two weeks later. The fence itself looks pretty good. There's a gap in the gate, but it's not worth having them come back for. I paid the 50% deposit via credit card. I was contacted almost immediately after the fence was completed to pay the remainder with one small catch- the credit card machine had failed and would take 20 days to replace. John wanted cash and wanted it the next day. We worked it out and when he came to pick up the cash, I actually paid him extra to come back and seal the wood. August 19th was when they were due to come back. He replied on August 22nd that his staff were sick and he would be coming soon. 4 texts and 4 calls later, I haven't heard a word from John.

John has a very big heart and he is great so is Ricky. They both went beyond the call to get my privacy fence up even if that meant contacting me to let me know if anything or issues arose. The other reviews that you see are heinous and people are just nasty just because they feel like they can get over on others. I would recommend them to others for fencing needs and wants.

I never got the promises of finishing the fence job completed, stain, and GAPS in PRIVACY WOOD fence however, he had every excuse when i got him on the phone several times..... Examples of excuses;someone died,... he has other jobs (he was on 7 more while he was working on mine he showed up to unload the men then left.john only collected payment over phone not checking behind his workers like he promised,while he was on my project he told me 5 people would work on my fence only 2 men did and still today missing screws and gaps anything can get in or out of my fence and its NOT stain as promised . I want everyone to be safe of this company he claims to have done this for over 30 years he claims he learns everything from another company. I am well in my twenties he did not care about that either. Just be careful. UPDATE: After i posted this post Jon showed up to my house after i told him not to come back and to only send his GUYS to complete the work. He THREATEN ME TO TAKE THIS post down because it makes him look bad; DOWN OR HE IS NOT going to COMPLETE THE WORK! I recorded him and it will be issue from here on out. No one should get treated this way!

"First of all I want to say as of July 12th American Fence Masters went to court with Lateria Hood. Not only did I present our case she got everything on our contract that she asked for after the judge listening to both sides and both sides of the evidence the judge has concluded and made a decision that we were 100% in no wrong doings at all. Our company was awarded this judgement and the judge concluded in his notes that all of our evidence supported our claim. She definitely tainted our character and my character as a personal person. This woman is full of venom and if anybody does look on our reviews please read this because she is a snake in the grass trying to get something for free."

Wood Fence Installation
We signed a contract with John at the beginning of July 2018 for a shadowbox fence plus staining (we were to purchase the stain, based on the one he recommended). Once the fence was started, he requested full payment claiming he needed to pay his guys. Against my better judgement I paid him in full before the job was completed. The initial fence went up and it was beautiful. When it came time to stain the fence we knew something was wrong since the semi-transparent stain was going on like thick matte paint (which is against my HOA policy). After a lot of back and forth and pointing fingers, we got John and the stain company to come out together. It was determined that the stain was not defective, but rather it was applied too soon before the wood had time to dry out (6 months is recommended). After a lot of heated conversations, John agreed to remove the stained portions of the fence and replace them with new wood at his expense. The fence was finally replaced in October 2018. He never came out to inspect the work and several of the wood planks are crooked with nails sticking out. It is just overall sloppy. His crew left several chunks of concrete, hammers and tape measure in my yard. He said they would be back in March 2019 to stain the fence and get their tools. We have tried to contact him repeatedly, but he will not return any calls. Overall, he sells you the dream but his communication is some of the worst I have ever seen. And if something does not go his way, he is extremely unprofessional, sending nasty texts all times of the night. Save yourself the headache and find another company!

"We did not even charge this customer for stained whatsoever we stained it for him as a favor for free I told them if they would pick out their staying we'd stated form they picked out the stain they paid for it and yet they didn't like it so our company went back and tore that whole fence down and redone the hill defense on our dime not theirs Jeffrey put it right back up did not charge nothing and he has a complaint did I won't come back out and stain that fence I'm not work this company is not going to it's awful it's awful shame you try to do a service for free to someone they pick out the color they don't like it and then we have to go ba"

The owner of this company name John came to my home to give me an estimate did the estimate we discuss what type of fence we like how we wanted everything to be privacy Woodfence I signed the paper for the estimate they came in installed the the wood poles with the cement never explain the process to me this is the first time I every had a wood fence installed and I have said that to him so we had to wait two days for the cement to settle came back and started installing the fence and they could not finish rain due to weather then due to some other things they had going on but the problem with Mr. John is that he has no communication no customer service is actually very rude he likes to curse to customers because he has A lack of communication that is evident when you are cursing at a customer he has yet to come back to fix some of the fence that is not leveled with the ground major dip at bottoms of fence this man is the worst he lies as well he will never ever get my business again nor will he get anyone that I know to his will go to the BBB just horrible

The fence is really nice and was installed very professionally. However, the customer service portion suffered. We had several days of bad weather that delayed our installation. The poles were installed and then we had to wait for the concrete to set. So more bad weather came and they told us that they would come out on Saturday and they did not show up or give us a call that they could not make it. We called again and they said Sunday. so they did come and finish the job but demanded the balance and we did not have a check for them on a Sunday. As a result, I get a phone call from the office at my place of employment harassing me for the payment before 2 p.m. on Monday. Not very happy with that aspect of the job and because of the excuses and delays, I would not hire them again.

"It seems to me that when people or customers want to give a review and it goes on my record and they say something bad about what our company has done or not done, what this woman fails to tell anyone as that we put up her post in the ground and never got paid anything for 38 days when she was supposed to give us a deposit for the job when we started needless to say she finally come up with her $1,500 down and we finished her complete entire wood privacy fence and yes we still have to put a double drive chain link gate up she still owes $1,100 on this job I gave her six months of financing but no one yelled at this woman, this woman kept calling."

My wife and I shopped around for several months trying to find a company to install a fence in our backyard. We wanted black chain link around the sides and back, and aluminum on the front since it looks nicer. Other companies took weeks to respond to our request for quotes and were priced extremely high (in our opinion). American Fence Masters responded the same day, set up an in-person consultation and gave us a quote before leaving our house. The workmanship is excellent, the pricing is fair, and the guys are all a pleasure to work with. If you need a fence, please check out this small business. Theyre fantastic!

Very friendly company! They did great work, I have a very nice looking, high quality fence at a good value for the money. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! EDITED: Within a year of the completion of this project, the gate on my fence as well as the panel directly to the left of it became extremely warped, so much so that I can hardly open the gate. I contacted the owner of this business several times, and he said that the would come out and look at it and never did. The boards on these two panels now actually look like they are rotting. The owner of AMerican Fence Masters quit responding to my calls and texts, now I am looking for someone to make repairs. *********BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS*******
