How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because American Kitchen Concepts Inc started in 1993 after the owner Dan worked for the largest Home Improvement contractor in the nation. At the time Dan was ranked 4th in the nation out of 5,000 salesman. Taking that experience gained and merging it with a smaller mid sized company allows Dan to work with each customer personally..

We started in this industry in 1988.

We describe our business as Well established

What separates you from your competition?

Quality of materials and workmanship, honesty and professionalism.

The end result is a beautiful kitchen with a breakfast bar and it turned out better than we expected. Kitchens are expensive but Dan worked to keep us close to our budget and cut cost whenever possible.

This was my Family’s third time using American Kitchen Concepts. It was spread out over ten years. A kitchen for my daughter, a bathroom for my wife and I, and the last job was the biggest of all. Most of our new house was touched by Dan’s skill in design and implementation. We had Dan redesign the kitchen area and he captured more cabinet space plus gave us better lighting, improved the stove exhaust system. Next Dan remodeled two bathrooms, which included removing a door and adding a new entry for one bath. Both baths received super exhaust venting that is whisper quiet. His painting team was beyond good the Kitchen and Bathrooms looked so good we had them patch and paint the whole house including the garage. Dan’s team provided such attention to detail that the final punch list was very small and easy to rectify. American Kitchen Concepts is a great company to work with, great designing and dream completers. There 24 years of experience shows. My wife and I would recommend them to anyone that wants a Kitchen or Bath or House redone.

If you are even considering hiring a contractor to remodel part or all of your kitchen, you owe it to yourself to contact American Kitchen Concepts and give them a chance to bid on the job. We did, mostly because of a personal recommendation (they remodeled a friend's kitchen several years earlier), and doing so led to not only an outstanding customer service experience, but also a fabulous outcome that was more than we'd hoped it would be. Here are some of the highlights of our experience and the benefits that awarding the contract to American Kitchen Concepts provided. DESIGN: Do you know exactly what you want for your kitchen? We thought that we did, but of course, we're not professionals who have been doing this for many years. We shared our thoughts with the owner, Dan Millard, in terms of materials, styles, etc., but he offered suggestions on the design that would have never occurred to us otherwise. We accepted some and passed on others, but the end result was a design that improved our existing space in many ways. MATERIALS: American Kitchen Concepts offers a variety of materials (floors, cabinets, back splash, counter tops, lighting/plumbing fixtures, etc.), and they are happy to use a different material of your choosing, if you prefer. We found the design and color cabinets there that we wanted, but could not find comparably elsewhere. That said, they used the flooring we wanted from a different source, allowed us to select our own lighting fixtures, and used a counter top that we found elsewhere that was available through one of their many suppliers. In short, we got exactly what we wanted without feeling that we compromised. WORKMANSHIP: The crew that performed the work was everything you could ask of such a team. They were courteous, professional, respectful of our property, clean (work site cleaned every day), and most importantly, skilled craftsmen. When dealing with true professionals and skilled craftsmen, you get spoiled. They thought of details and anticipated needs before they occurred to us. Consequently, we quickly developed a high level of trust that, no matter what questions or concerns we had, they would be addressed to our satisfaction and beyond. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I can honestly say that Dan and his crew made the entire experience easy and drama-free. They ensured that our concerns were addressed and that we were completely satisfied with the work they performed in our home. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending American Kitchen Concepts to any and all who are planning or even considering kitchen remodeling work. We are very grateful that we did.

We hired American Kitchen Concepts to transform our original 1960s cramped kitchen and adjacent “family room” into a modern, workable, and beautiful kitchen that is now the heart of our home. Our project involved removing a wall, replacing Luan paneling with drywall, adding electrical outlets, replacing all appliances (and moving the fridge and dishwasher) upgrading lighting, plumbing, matching and extending hardwood flooring, blending two ceilings into one, and replacing two exterior doors (one of which is a patio slider). AKC is unlike many other providers in that your first meeting is spent selecting the materials in his showroom, so you better be ready to make decisions. We were able to adjust some things along the way, but making choices up front gives you a proposal that is the actual price, not just a rough estimate. Dan only uses quality materials, and the workmanship matches. From our very first meeting with Dan until a few days ago, when he and Cameron (the job foreman) returned to take care of a few final touches, dealing with American Kitchen Concepts has been a smooth and pleasant experience. Most important, we met our original goal: our kitchen is beautiful and functional. Communication was frequent, via Google calendar appointments, texts, emails, and phone calls. We bought our appliances through his recommended vendor, who gave us a discount and coordinated delivery People will tell you that any large renovation project is a headache. While we were a bit inconvenienced for several weeks, in the big scheme this project was really painless. Most of this was due to the fact that Dan was very easy to deal with and is 100% focused on making sure that we were 100% happy with the final project (even after we had made our final payment). Would we hire them again? Absolutely.

One stop shopping! I wanted a quality kitchen at a good price. Remodeling choices are overwhelming. During my search, I quickly discovered the choices and options are overwhelming. I wanted expert to help me with the process. I found the perfect fit with American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. They offer quality products with an informed individual (Dan Millard) to help me make smart choices. They have great ideas about design and examples to show you, so it's easy to make choices without driving all over town to look at tile one place and cabinets somewhere else. Dan helped me spend the money on the important things and find less expensive options when it made sense. He managed the project, keeping me in the loop by using Google calendar and texts and phone calls for a schedule. We lived and worked on location through the rehab project. The contractors were personable, left the site as clean as possible and great to work with. Everyone involved made the experience from start to finish as painless as possible. They got the project done quickly without sacrificing quality. It's been two years and I couldn't be happier with my kitchen and my experience with American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. I'm glad I shopped locally, not using a big box store. The personal attention made a difference in the quality, warranty, and attention to detail.

We decided to completely redo our kitchen. We hired AKC to demo the whole kitchen, which included knocking down the wall (non load bearing) separating the kitchen from the living room. They then reworked the wiring, which had some issues, installed brand new cabinets and countertop, and added a island/breakfast bar. The majority of the project took about three weeks, which I felt was really quick for a kitchen remodel. After the bulk of the project was done, they had to return a few weeks later to install some items that took longer to ship or were replacement items, but it wasn't an issue since the kitchen was functional at that point. While it was a messy project, I felt that AKC tried to keep things as clean as they could, which was important for us since we have a small child who's very curious about anything laying around on the floor. The project manager, Dan, was very responsive and would text me photo updates during the day while I was at work when requested. More importantly, Dan was very helpful in the planning stages. When we were first looking to redo our kitchen, we were overwhelmed with all of our choices for countertops, cabinets, colors, knobs, tiles, layout, etc. Dan was very knowledgeable and sat down with us to go over what would work best for us. He gave us suggestions and advice when we needed it. We changed our minds several times throughout the process, and Dan didn't have a problem with that. In the end, we love the kitchen we have now. We also had the floor completely replaced by another contractor, and Dan was very accommodating to make sure everything progressed smoothly.

Dan at American Kitchen Concepts worked with us to design our new kitchen, including custom built cabinets and beautiful quartz countertops. The workmanship was outstanding and we have been enjoying it for two years now. We liked the quality of the work so much, last year we had AKC completely remodel our master bath with a glass walk-in tile shower, custom vanity and top, and recessed lighting. We were again impressed with the quality of the work, and AKC crew were so friendly, conscientious, and even took care of our dogs when we were out! We love our new kitchen and master bath and would highly recommend American Kitchen Concepts to anyone.

Three years ago in November 2013, Dan Millard and his company entered our lives and ultimately created a kitchen and sun room combination so amazing that we are still receiving compliments on its beauty and usefulness. From demolishing the former kitchen, moving a window, removing a sliding glass door, and adding heating ducts under the floor of the sun room, the project was completed in a little over a month. They created a laundry closet in one corner of the sun room and moved our washer and dryer up from the basement. We appreciated that the workers were in our home every weekday for at least 8 hours, and our questions were answered immediately. They even helped us set up a temporary kitchen in the adjoining dining room, so I could cook with a microwave and an electric skillet. If you want exactly what you can imagine, talk to Dan at American Kitchen Concepts.

My wife and I had an excellent experience having our kitchen designed/installed and new flooring installed. Dan Millard of American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. is someone I would highly recommend. From the very beginning, when we were exploring the idea of getting this done, Dan answered all of our questions. I was particularly curious as to what a kitchen remodel costs and Dan was completely up-front in what to expect. When we decided this was something we were going to do, Dan scheduled several meetings over the course of a few weeks. I didn't realize all of the decisions that had to be made and having separate meetings allowed us to take things one step at a time. When we were indecisive, Dan was always understanding and patient. After he came out to measure, we were able to see what was possible in our cabinet layout. Seeing the options available in his showroom really helped us decide what we liked. We were able to take samples home so we could see how they actually looked. When it came to picking appliances, it was nice to be able to shop for our appliances and then use Dan's contact to have delivery coordinated by him. We ended up paying for the appliances separately from the kitchen remodel contract, with the delivery handled by Dan. Dan really did an excellent job designing a lighting plan. Our previous kitchen was very dark, with only one light. He gave us six recessed ceiling lights and under-cabinet LED lights. And for me this included a strip of lights hidden from view right over the sink linked to a different switch. No more darkness or shadows doing dishes. When it came to installation we had some delay getting started due to bad weather which was beyond control. The winter of 2015/2016 was exceptionally snowy. Once scheduled, things took place within three weeks. It went as Dan described it would, with a lot of work happening some days, little on others. The hardwood flooring went in our entry way, kitchen, powder room, dining room and living room. There was definitely temporary inconvenience for permanent improvement. Dan provided a dumpster for us as promised so we could get rid of a bunch of our household junk, including an old couch. One trip of his dumpster was for just our junk. It was very nice to have this hauled away for us. There were a few issues along the way. A few of the outer faces of our cabinets were damaged in transit on the edges. Dan had new skins sent for all so everything looked pristine. We had some nails around the edge of our flooring that needed wood putty, and this was taken care of. The innards of our powder room toilet leaked after re-installation and Dan took care of having this fixed. The two covers for the toilet bolts went missing but Dan had new ones purchased and installed. And lastly, a few months later when our new touch faucet started acting up, he came out to replace the base of it. This was truly going above and beyond. Dan Millard of American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. is someone I would recommend without hesitation. Even if you are just considering a remodel I recommend you give Dan a call and visit his showroom. Description of work: Dan Millard of American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. provided a complete overhaul of our kitchen. To meet our goals Dan: 1. Met with us to understand our wants and desires, 2. Visit our home to take measurements so recommendations could be made as to what would be possible, 3. Allow us time to chose each of the parts of our new kitchen, from cabinets, counter-top, flooring, lighting, hardware 4. Dan provided a contact at Sears that we could use or not use for our new appliances. 5. Provided a detailed schedule as to when things would take place. 6. Followed up on any issues encountered during the project.
