Do NOT book with this company if you value your time and communication. I am very dissatisfied with my experience with American Van Lines. I booked based on assurances that delivery within 3?5 days would not be a problem, but this was not honored. Communication was poor throughout the process, and my name was repeatedly misspelled despite me clearly spelling it out. On pickup day, the movers arrived four hours late with little communication, and one of my mattresses was forgotten. Customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, and responses often took more than 24 hours. As a single mother with a toddler who had just started a new job, being without our belongings for two weeks was extremely difficult. The only positive part was the moving crew, who were kind and professional. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values reliability, communication, or accuracy.

Deceptive practice or completely horrible employees providing estimates - explained what was needed for example we had 50 pieces of art listed on both the original and addendum estimates - then the day the movers show up they say there is only packing for 20 and more will cost more money. King bed and explained there is a split box springs (2 twins) they list it on the estimate then the day the movers show up they state they included the container for them but didn?t list that they would be put on the truck. The list goes on. Had me over a barrel so they could get many thousands more after insisting on 50% deposits.

Awful experience, terrible service. They gave us a fake expected delivery date on the phone with us to secure our business. Went from 3 days to 20 days and refused to provide refund. Avoid them

I strongly advise avoiding American Van Lines. Our binding estimate of $16,100 ballooned to over $30,000 on moving day, and we were threatened with losing our $8,000 deposit if we didn?t sign their inflated contract. They outsourced our move to another company without warning, packed our items carelessly, and many belongings arrived damaged or heat-warped after sitting for weeks in extreme temperatures. Communication was nearly impossible once they had our things. This was by far the most stressful and unethical moving experience I?ve ever had.

Please do not use AVL!! They use 3rd party for most of their moves. Our mover came with too small of van causing damage to many of our items. He wanted additional funds for "packing material". He also advised us if we send in a claim, it would take a long time and we would receive pennies of the value. They also did wall damage when offloading furniture into our new home.

I feel like I?ve been extorted. We used American Vanlines to move from KC to Fort Worth. I received a quote for ~$8k. Driver arrived on a Sunday to begin packing and prior to him starting I was told that there would be an increase by $2k. What recourse do I have at this point? My move was down to the wire so I didn?t feel like I had any option but to pay the added cost. Team was woefully understaffed for packing and loading causing us to work until 0330 on Tuesday. Planned for household items to deliver on 6/13, but missed due to me. Closing on the 12th did not happen as planned? my fault. My household items then went into storage (I was warned that this could be a risk and an added $4k expense which I accepted). we lived in our new place for three weeks without furniture. spent ~$6k more than quoted. and the only time I really had someone show interest was after I posted a review (at which point they offered me $600 to remove my post). wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I got scammed for a second move! I was quoted next day then they said it could be a week.

Our move with American Van Lines was one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a commercial business. We requested and were told our goods would be transported in a full size moving van with drop down partitions and our furniture would not be stacked. None of that ended up being true. On our move day we waited and waited for the truck to come. It never did and we received no communication from AVL. We finally gave up and called them and eventually learned that no one was coming. We had already sold our house and needed to be out that day. After another day passed they showed up in a 27 foot box truck for our 2500 square foot 3 bedroom home. Despite our protest lasting the entire morning our driver was told to get it all in the truck which they did. There was not an inch of space left and everything was on top of everything else. Last in was our king mattress which two movers pushed on while another mover pulled the door closed. Just as an example of the care taken

They overcharged me. $9k to move one room of stuff. Kept breaking contracts and raising the cost. Broke many items including melting an old large candle from Germany, broke a grandfather clock, as well as many crystal glasses. Lastly, they stole 30 or so CDs. replaced them with christian rock hoping i would not notice. Terrible experience!

The estimating, packing and delivery were fine. The communication between was so unprofessional. If you are given a delivery window just know it will be the very end of the window. Trying to get definitive delivery information was horrible and extremely frustrating. Really poor communication - not worth paying more than other companies.

Horrible moving company. Absolute nightmare to work with. They couldn?t t be kinder/friendlier when they?re after that sale?.. but boy, when they get your money?. Forget about it. Do yourself a favor and do your homework. This company is not good?.. period end of story

Beware, Absolutely Unacceptable! I hired this company for a flat-fee condo move, confirmed in person by rep Michael Vicianaza, who documented every item, including refrigerator, range, dishwasher, microwave, washer, and dryer, in the signed contract. On the moving day, the truck arrived 4 hours late. The driver then refused to deliver my appliances unless I paid extra, claiming the company only paid him for 4.5 hours of labor and that delivery would require 1.5 more. When I refused this blatant upcharge, he left the appliances behind. For the next week, I called their main office, multiple reps, and the sales rep?s cell?no one responded. Zero accountability and zero resolution. I was forced to hire another moving company at my own expense, losing another full day of work. They broke the contract, tried to extort me, ghosted me, and caused major stress, inconvenience, and added costs. This was the most unethical, unprofessional experience I?ve ever had. Avoid them at all costs!!!!

Terrible company - DO NOT USE. Scammers. The pick-up seemed to go OK by the driver Jeffrey, but then Jeffrey told us that he couldn't take more than half our stuff because it wasn't on his list. It appears that the woman who contacted us the week before from the company failed to provide the updated list of our inventory. So we were left scrambling at the last minute to get the rest of our belongings out of the home, so we used POD instead (who are EXCELLENT). The whole move cost us double than what we were expecting. Now we are still waiting on our goods from AVL - they are now over a week late past the contract window. Each time we call, we keep getting told we will get a call back with an update on a new delivery date from dispatch, but we never do. We have spoken to several managers including Melissa, still no update. I fear we will never get our stuff. We will never use again.

BEWARE: American Van Lines is a rip-off and black mailer!! I normally do not do ?bad? reviews, but in this case, I will make an exception. We hired AVL to make our move earlier this month from Acworth, GA to Little Egg Harbor, NJ. The process started out great and Warren, the sales representative, was great. The problem began immediately upon the movers showing up. First, they had no packing material because they were told we would pack everything. I have moved about 7 times and NEVER have I packed everything in my house. They had to leave mid-packing to go get packing material. Then amazingly after packing about 1/3 of the truck, they announced the stuff in our garage had not been added to the original invoice. From day one they new we had a 4 bdrm, 2 ½ bath, 2-car garage. The next thing I know is I?m being up charged $2700. When I told them I was not going to pay that, the ?blackmail? scheme came in. I would not recommend this company even to my enemy. They lied to us from the very beginning ( Paul McDermott) on everything from the rate to the weight rules to the fact that they did not even do the move but outsourced it to people they had never ever used before. They do not even move your freight they sell it to someone else and keep your downpayment at the fee. Our household goods were actually held hostage by the outsourced moving company because they were trying to charge us 5000.00 more than Paul McDermott told us the charge would be. We were told the rate would be reduced if the weight on the goods was less then. the estimate yet as the wove was being completed we found out that we had to sign a certain type of contract to get the rate reduced based on the lower weight amount. During the move it took so many phone calls to try to get the final rate agreed upon there is no way I can remember how many call there were. We?ve had an extremely troubling experience with American Van Lines. Price increased nearly 80% on move day with no prior in-home estimate. Subcontracted workers behaved unsafely, including unauthorized re-entry into our home after being fired. Despite urgent calls and emails, no one responded for over 24 hours. Our requests for safety and staffing support were ignored. Packing took 5 days, and delivery was delayed 3?6 days with almost no notice. Poor service, dangerous conduct, and zero accountability. We would never use AVL again.

Gave me a delivery date window of 16 days... One day before the last day in the window they still will not give me a firm delivery date. Every time I call they say they can not reach their dispatcher and that they will get back to me when they get an email back from dispatch. This has never happened, despite calling at least 10 times. Yesterday I called twice, and was told a supervisor would call me back, which never happened.

I was dissatisfied with the service. My furniture was damaged with some pieces being ruined. There was no compensation because I did not buy the extra insurance. The communication was sufficient except for the delivery date which was frustrating because arrangements needed to be made by me as well. I would not use American Van Lines again.

Worst experience. No communication from the office and I was overcharged. The price and conditions agreed at the quotation time was not honored. Nobody answer my calls prior, during and after my move, only the driver and thanks to him only I could make my move. Nothing worked as I was told. Will never do business again with this company. I do not recommend them.

Absolutely horrible experience in so many ways and nobody cares ....not even a little. Nobody will return a phone call or an email!

Scam Alert ? Dishonest and Deceptive Practices I was quoted ~$11,000 for a cross-country move after a phone inventory, including my garage gym. I paid a ~$2,800 deposit, told I could pay the remainder by credit card. Closer to the move, I added items and paid another $600. On moving day, they arrived with a 26' truck?despite me repeatedly stating that size was too small?and the price suddenly jumped to ~$17,000. I was then told I had to pay $10,000 in cash before they?d even begin. I didn?t have that on hand, so they refused to start and kept my full deposit. I canceled and was told all payments were non-refundable. Their tactic is clear: quote low, collect a deposit, then raise the price dramatically and demand cash. I was also referred to [Provider Name Removed], quoted $1,000 with a $250 deposit. Last minute, they increased it to $1,700, claiming $1,450 would go to the driver?who told me he was only paid $1,000. Both companies use bait-and-switch scams. Avoid at all costs.

They did not tell the truth from the original phone call. Absolutely horrible even after being charged more than double what they quoted which really wasn?t the problem as much as the service it self. They separated, I move which I had asked in the beginning if they would do that hundred percent guaranteed me they would not that they handle all their own service in moving, not saying they do not and did not and would not handle any claims as they were not the ones that delivered the furniture, but they were the ones that picked it up and they were the ones that had the contract with I call up the customer service. They give me the wrong email address and send me emails back saying that they?re not responsible would never never never do business with them again and everybody I could possibly tell they would hear the same thing.

They did a fine job. Took longer than expected.
