"Although we do appreciate your comments in your correspondence with us that we "do great work" we certainly apologize for this incident and will now discuss with our customers the importance of pet containment while we work on their homes. As we discussed in correspondence with you, working in crawl spaces we will often encounter animals. Whether domestic or wild, we run across racoons, opossums, snakes, mice, cats and occasionally a dog. I understand that you feel we purposefully locked up your cat in the crawl space of your home. I can assure you this is not the case. The last thing we want in your crawl space is an animal of any kind that could possibly harm the animal or destroy the product we just installed. I spoke with the crew about this situation and the foreman stated that he saw a cat in your crawl space but when he tried to approach it the cat darted away. They searched for the cat in the crawl but did not see it. According to your boyfriend, the cat must have been hiding in a cavity where our crew did not see it. Your home is an older home built in a "balloon" style construction, whereby there are wall cavities that are exposed to the crawl space, apparently where your boyfriend found the cat. Assuming the cat had left, our crew closed up the crawl. For this we certainly apologize and for not contacting you sooner of this situation. Our crew certainly did not intend to cause you or your cat any harm. Again, we see animals in crawl spaces very often and we try to keep them out. Americrawl has been working on basements, crawl spaces and foundations since 1992. We have won several awards for customer service. We have also run into several animals in crawl spaces during the last 25 years. This is the first time we have accidentally closed up an animal in a customer's home. But, again, we apologize for this accident, as we certainly did not intend to close your cat up in the crawl space, and we are glad that your cat is now safe and sound."
