Area Access, Inc.

Since 1983, Area Access has supplied elevators, stairlifts, chairlifts, and wheelchair lifts to Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Eastern North Carolina. We have worked on projects like the 2016 Presidential Inaugural Stands, the US Institute of Peace, FBI Headquarters, King’s Dominion Amusement Park, and the Jiffy Lube Live Concert Complex. Our three offices, in Manassas, Norfolk, and Richmond, Virginia, have fully-equipped showrooms and a large staff of accessibility professionals. In addition to several lines of home and light commercial Access elevators – including the new Symmetry models – we install vertical and inclined wheelchair lifts, and stair lifts for both straight and curved-rail applications. We carry a full selection of other accessibility products such as scooters, vehicle lifts, powerchairs, and lift chairs. No matter what your mobility need, Area Access can help you reach the solution.

Review by Earl C.
Project: Install an Elevator or Stairlift
I hired Scott approximately 2 yrs ago to install a commercial elevator on a property that I own and I have paid them around 80% of the money, I have been trying to get them to come out and finish, they tell me they will be out to finish and they never show up, they keep lying to me
Response by Area Access, Inc.: I understand Earl's frustration. I agree that it has taken this long and that he has paid us 80%. The problem for us is that we are 95% completed, so we'd love to get this job completed. It's a commercial building and the elevator needs to be tied into the fire suppression system and it needs a specific electrical component. These items are not provided by Area Access. We've tried to work with them to coordinate with the other trades. We stand by willing to help, but feel like due to the fire/sprinkler tie in that our hands are tied on what to do next. Would love to complete and get our final payment.

It was not my lift, it was my smoke detector beeping. The young man at Area Services pointed the problem out for me. I have his number for future references. I really commended him for being honest with me because he could have came out to service a problem that did not exist and charged me the service charge for coming out. I smile to know that there are still honest people that exist in this world and thank Jesus for sending them my way.

Area Access was professional and thorough. The chairlifts have worked very well. My father loves them. A small problem arose with the operation of one of my two chairlifts. They were out the next day to fix the glitch with little inconvenience on my part. The chairlift is strong and fits my decor well.
