Nothing I had control of ..We have had a 5-star rating for many years. Almost all our clients are from referrals. I was excited about working with Anna C. on her swimming .She possessed great artistic taste along with the desire for something incredibly unique, which is also my passion. Our Salesperson, and I spent hours designing and redesigning her pool with over five complete renditions in auto cad, making sure every aspect was dramatic and worked in her backyard. My Cad department billed out more than 34 Hours of conceptual 3D representations. Normal is 3 or 4. Along with four meeting with salespeople and me. This does not even include detailed Construction Plans for permitting. Or Salesperson's commission. Unfortunately for all of us, along came Corona; we were designing her pool during this exact time. The pool business exploded. Houston had more permits in one month than the entire year before. This caused a massive delay in the Gunite phase. Waiting times had increased to over three months. Anyone that wanted a pool was caught up in the Gunite delay, and wait times grew longer every day. I usually build our pools in less than 30 days, a fact made possible because I offer cash to the vendors upon completion. I was also caught off guard with 11 sold pools and two already excavated and all put on a long list. Our practice is the first in, first out. FIFO Schedule. Anna's pool had been on Prestige Gunite Schedule for almost three months and was also at the top of our list when she canceled her contract because of delays. I am a perfectionist and extremely impatient. I had 14 Clients feeling like ms Cordoza . My phone was ringing off the wall. I pleaded with Prestige Gunite for a time estimate s, but they would not commit. Making it twice as frustrating for me. At the time of her cancellation, my company was ready to go. Pool, permits completed, construction drawings, pool marked, and staked out in the yard, excavation crew on schedule, and we had been told by Prestige gunite we had 13 pools ahead of her pool or about eight days my estimate. Prestige Gunite typically had three working crews. Unfortunately, they were down to one crew because of employees having coronavirus. I was upset that they would not give me a schedule. Where was I on list. I felt I was being bumped for commercial projects or projects where they were getting kickbacks. I just wanted to be able to tell my customers something. It would have been impossible to switch companies because my pools would be put on the back end of another Gunite company. Out of frustration, I wrote a not-so-nice letter to Prestige gunite, trying to move my pools forward faster! (Available upon request) I am probably one of the few companies that pay them cash upon completion, during normal times they would always move my pools to the front of the line. During this Corona time, I had closed our office, and my Office Mgr. went home to be with her children. Two of our salespeople had the virus. I was trying to do everything. It was my fault for not getting back to Anna sooner after her cancellation I just felt overwhelmed. Trying to keep pools going that we had started. Our contract states, that the Down payment is for Designing, Permitting, Paperwork, Construction Plans. And salesman commission. Our contract also states an additional penalty for canceling, which I did not charge her. We had spent a considerable amount more than her $5000 on this project. I have built over 1400 pool and have only kept one other deposit. I probably would have given her the deposit back if we both would have communicated better. I regret that the project ended up this way. This pool would have probably won awards. At least she has a great design. Greg Peters"
