Artisan Landscapes

Absolutely horrible experience. Totally dissatisfied. I asked for landscape beds to be rounded and raised with a central single anchor plant and grasses around the central plant to soften the sharp angles of the house. He put in non raised linear beds with heavy railroad ties and three small pathetic palms. I asked for landscape lighting and the lights were placed BEHIND the plants on the railroad ties which only illuminates the railroad ties. No thought or awareness that this is worthless. I asked for rocks in the beds. He did not match the existing rocks and 1/3 of the rocks, if you want to call them that, he put in were pressed clay which crumbles with the first rain! I asked for an enclosure for my garbage cans and what was built was so ugly and laughable that it became the joke of the neighborhood. I had to have another contractor rebuild it because he refused. When I finally got him (John Smitka) out to my property to address my concerns he promised me that he would fix everything. That was, of course, a lie and the last I ever heard from him. He would not answer my calls for months and finally I called with an unknown number and he answered. His response was that quote, I should not have paid him if I was unhappy. (I actually did not pay him but my business partner did in my absence without checking with me. And the project was literally twice the estimate!) He then said he was not going to fix anything and hung up. I consider John Smitka dishonest, unethical, unprofessional, and incompetent. Would not trust him with any project.

Prompt and extremely respectful of my wishes in putting stone around my fireplace back wall... Made professional suggestions and was willing to express the correct procedures in achieving what i envisioned my stone to end up looking like. The guys working all were friendly, made sure i was getting the very best results that could be made... Cleaned up completely every single grout crumb .... extremely professional and dependable crew and would highly recommend this business over and over . Will have them on the calendar for January in completing kitchen sub tiles.... I give this company A ++ and 5 ++ stars.

John told me when he would arrive to get the work done, he did. He gave me an estimate and did not go over his estimate. He was very responsive and so very helpful. His crew was very respectful...they all worked hard and had great attitudes! The work was simply outstanding.

John and his team were fabulous. We had an issue with a concrete driveway install and didnâ t know what to do with the landscaping. John explained everything to us, fixed the problem and the work that was done is absolutely top notch!

Prompt; used best materials; replaced plants when two failed (loss is normal when installing multiple plants); followed up after job was completed; good friendly crew. Guaranteed his work. I will use their services again.

John is very conscientious, hard-working, and fair.
