Interior Painting or Staining: 5 + Rooms
Very good work. Add ons offered were too expensive. Painters kept a gallon of paint and would not respond to requests to return it

Drywall - Install
Yes, I recommend this pro
$1,000
The upshot: I hired Joe and his team to install 2 layers of drywall with Green Glue soundproofing product on a 15' x 11' vaulted wall. Joe was extremely accommodating regarding all my scheduling needs and special requests, and very attentive during the project. He and his team (2 highly skilled, hard-working, and very nice young men) arrived when they said they would, completed the work beautifully when they said they would, and left me with a professionally finished, ready-to-paint surface. The detailed version: I had hired a different, highly rated company on this site, and re-arranged my work schedule to be free on Thursday and Friday for the project. They preferred to schedule the job for Thursday, and I'd need the next day to put things back together. I had 8) 4x12' drywall sheets delivered into my small living space first-thing Thursday morning, with the understanding the workers would arrive soon after the drywall. The electric was disconnected in my living space and kitchen (except for appliances). I had moved everything out of my living space and draped my carpet with plastic. At first, start time was going to be "10-11", then "after lunch", then he texted to say they were delayed and they'd arrive at 3 to begin my job! Since the Green Glue is expensive and gooey stuff that must be applied to exact specifications (and I wanted the team to be fresh when they arrived), we agreed to start the next morning. Wasted day, my home in construction chaos, and not even an apologetic tone. I got in touch with Joe on Thursday as I continued to get the low-priority bump from the other company. My experience with Joe was quite the opposite! After discussing details, he agreed to match the negotiated price I'd arrived at with the other company, based on pictures, square footage, and job description. I appreciated that so much because I couldn't delay another day for him to come out to give a quote. Joe let me know his team could be available the next day, and was extremely patient and accommodating with all my concerns and specifications; we texted and spoke by phone quite a bit. He was honest about the fact that his team had not worked with Green Glue (few have), but agreed that everyone would watch a couple of short videos regarding application specifics. (Sound blocking needs to be done exactly right or it's all for naught.) Friday morning they arrived on time. Leni (a dry-walling maestro!) is very skilled. He made what I know (from experience) is difficult look easy. Brian was his hard-working and experienced assistant. Nice guys! Joe stayed to supervise, perhaps because none of us were familiar with working with the Green Glue. That was good, because there were some language challenges that made conveying complicated details difficult. But, after watching the short videos about application of the compound and sealant, and Joe making sure all my specifications and concerns were understood, Leni mastered the application in no ti

Bathroom - Remodel
Asheville Developers Group is the most unprofessional, unreliable and dishonest Pro I've hired in the 8 years I have been using Home Advisors. I hired them to remodel my bathrooms, master bedroom and closet for $44,940. To date I have paid over $113,000 for this project and it will cost another $30,000 to finish it. Jose Morales told me he had a PhD in civil engineering and the reason for the extra cost was due to structural deficiencies he found that were all lies. He was so crude, dishonest, and abusive, I was going to call the police if he didn't leave my home. Home Advisors has done nothing to rectify the situation despite my numerous complaints. Had to hire an attorney because Mr. Morales threatened to sue me if I gave him a bad review. My attorney has also been retained by another home owner that had a similar experience with Mr. Morales. Caveat Emptor.

At first the company seemed to address my needs, but the contract extensions were very expensive. On a fixed income, this was very hard to manage.

Carpentry Framing - Install

Joe and Ben are fantastic! We hired them for a garage remodel and got a budget set. They gave us a timeline of two weeks and finished on time! We went over budget but they didn't charge us anything more than the original budget. The workers are professional and nice, they work hard and deliver great results! We are so happy with our outcome. We plan on hiring them again for a bathroom fix up in the near future. The best part about this is we hired professional workers and ended the project with new friends!

Tile: Ceramic and Porcelain - Install
$50,000
Estimate and work completed was well under other estimates. Workers very careful and courteous, protecting remainder of house with paper on floor and dust barriers taped to doors/walls. They carefully dismantled trim and even framing for use in other parts of the project, therefore saving cost and matching woods. Very helpful with suggestions for design and construction through the project based upon knowledge of costs, material quality, and potential to add resale value. Honest, ethical, technically expert. Would definitely recommend without reservation. ****************Since writing the above comments,********************** which was 2 weeks into the project, several issues have come to light that radically change my review. The job that was to have taken 3 weeks to completion was not ever finished, but stopped short after 2+ MONTHS of very on and off work! The initial quote was considerably exceeded, with the last payment to have been around $4,500, but instead being billed at $13,000!!!! The fault was lain by the owner at the feet of the employees having "charged me high" for the latest work (obviously not true as the owner controls the process of billing), and later confirmed with those employees to have been more than tripled). I was charged a cleaning fee of $1000, for which I am told that the employees were paid $400. I have also since confirmed that the owner is neither a graduate of Georgia Tech Engineering as claimed, nor is he even a licensed General Contractor in the state of NC (as he also claimed). Further, neither he nor any of his employees are licensed plumbers or electricians as is required by Buncombe County. The work done was in the end satisfactory after several corrections/repairs were done, but the "business" is neither truthful nor worthy of continuing operation.
