Water and energy management are inherent to plumbing. As such, the plumbing industry should be good stewards of our water resources and environment. This founding principle is what launched Blue Planet Plumbing (BPP) in 2003. Led by master plumber Georg Efird, Blue Planet Plumbing became one of the first grassroots, locally-accredited green plumbing companies in Asheville. BLUE PLANET VALUES Blue Planet Plumbing brings a holistic and environmental approach to every aspect of the plumbing system. We do not recommend or use caustic materials, business practices or techniques that harm the environment. We do everything within our power to reduce our footprint. We advocate for products like hybrid water heaters that put less stress on our water and energy resources. Most importantly, we are committed to educating our clients on the most up-to-date environmental and economical options to best fit their households, budget, and needs.

Water Heater - Repair or Service
Our water heater went on the fritz and it was Georg and his crew to the rescue. They figured out the problem, handled the warranty with the manufacturer and got a new one on its way to us. During this hurricane, I started panicking as we have electricity but no water and a pipe on the heater was hissing and dripping. They immediately took my call, calmed my nerves, and walked me through step by step of what to do to keep the heater safe and prepare it for when we get water back. So grateful for George and his team! Always in good hands with them.

I called Blue Planet Plumbing out to my vacation rental to fix a water heater. A junior technician promptly arrived and got to work rebuilding the heater with a new thermostat and heating elements which cost $500. Unfortunately, this did not correct the problem and the original technician left before determining whether hot water was indeed flowing. So, the technician came out again the next morning and reinstalled new thermostat and heating elements. The water heater still didn’t work. That technician then declared the water heater could not be fixed by him and that I would have to call out an electrician. My wife called the managers office upset that we paid $500 and still had no working water heater. The management agreed this was unacceptable and sent Will Dawson out to investigate the issue. Will stayed on the job troubleshooting until it was determined it was a blown fuse worth $8 that was causing the water heater not to work meaning the $500 effort was unnecessary. Instead of refunding the $500, Will gave us a $500 credit to use on future plumbing work. Despite this costly error, I would still recommend Blue Planet Plumbing because Will stayed on the job until the problem was determined. Mistakes happen. But integrity is more important and this is something Blue Planet Plumbing has.

We do train twice a week however occasionally we do fail and it sounds like we did fall short on your expectations initially, but were able to recover your trust and faith in our company ultimately at the end. i’m happy to hear that my general manager Will Dawson was able to resolve the electrical issue and get everything working and that we also refunded the money that you paid with a credit on your account to give us another. Try to prove to you that we are the plumber you want working in your home. plumbing can sell them be straightforward. We did have a training the next day in a group setting, which we do twice a week and said to avoid this from ever happening to anyone in the future. Thank you for the compliment on integrity. We have been in business for 30 years and we do our very best to satisfy every single customer! the most important thing to me when you’re wrong is admitting that you’re wrong owning it and making it right. Our gas water heater failed on Super Bowl Sunday. I got on-line looking for a repair. After reading their 5 star reviews I called. To my surprise I received a call the same hour, made an appointment for Monday morning 9am. They showed up, on time, gave me a reasonable quote. They took out the old equipment, installed a highly rated unit and were gone within 3 hours. The unit came with a 6 year warranty but they added free labor to the warranty. Very happy with their service

This was an expensive project, but we believe in reducing our "carbon footprint" so on-demand water heating instead of keeping our old 75 gallon unit hot all the time, seemed to be the right thing to do.
