Gravel or Loose Fill Paving Install, Spread or Scrape

When they first put the roadway down it looked good but it was soft. You could put your hand in it an inch. They left ridges last time they rolled it. There is no hardness or stick to it. They tried to make it work but it is my suspicion that they got a bad batch of asphalt. It would not stick when they rolled it. The problem is that the roadway is soft. I paid a lot of money for this and they assure me that it would harden but it has not. It is still soft in parts when you walk on it. I do not want to hurt the company but I would like them to come fix this. I contracted with Asphalt Armor to flatten and refinish my lime rock driveway and the work was completed about February 28 at a cost of $1000. At that time Jerry Boswell of Asphalt Armor noted that the driveway needed additional lime rock to maintain it and also suggested that it could be provided with an asphalt top layer that I would be very satisfied by using asphalt fines (millings). I contracted with Asphalt Armor for the asphalt driveway which was completed on February 27th at a cost of an additional $9,800. At the time of its completion although it looked good, I observed that my new driveway was soft to touch or walk-on and brought that fact to Mr. Boswells attention. He assured me that the driveway would harden and that I would be very satisfied with it. On May 9th, I observed that there were uneven surfaces particularly in the center of the driveway and that it overall remained soft, and brought that fact to Mr. Boswells attention. He visited about a week later and rolled the driveway again. About 1.5 months later, we had a heavy rain which dislodged the fines in some areas of the driveway. I notified Mr. Boswell about that and on June 27th, and he filled in and rolled the driveway again. He also surface coated the driveway with a sealer and notified me that his work on it was finished. At present, the driveway has not hardened. The fundamental problem with the driveway seems to be that the asphalt fines used were contaminated with substances such as earth, lime rock, dust, etc. which prevented them from adhering to each other to become a solid mass with the rolling pressure, and/or insufficient unifying agent such as tar was used in the fines mixture. Since the sealant used was just applied in a thin layer to the top surface and did not penetrate into the spaces between the fines, it was for all practical purposes, useless in holding the driveway together and could even be an inhibiting factor if a penetrating sealer were to be used now to harden the driveway. Furthermore, the sealant was applied unevenly or not applied at all in some areas to become eventual weak spots, and that the appearance of the driveway was seriously degraded. Mr. Boswell had earlier mentioned the use of tar for resolving the issue and If he had used a thick layer of it or something else to hold everything together instead of or in addition to the sealer, it may have been a satisfactory solution. It is difficult to imagine that the driveway, as it is currently made being practical, as it will likely require frequent repairs particularly after rains. By contrast, the driveway previously made from lime rock remained in place about a decade before requiring any maintenance. Therefore, I am not satisfied with the driveway and wish Asphalt Armor to renew its efforts to correct all of its deficiencies. I trusted Mr. Boswell to honor his claim that the driveway asphalt would harden and paid Asphalt Armor the full agreed amount on February 27th, when he completed it. It has not hardened and If he will not correct its deficiencies, I will have no other recourse but to take appropriate legal action.

This is a family operation and Jerry & Shannon really pay attention to their business. They showed up on time for the appointment to give me an estimate. After talking to Jerry for fifteen minutes I came to realize that he knew what he was talking about and this was the company I needed to seal my rather large driveway. I hired them on the spot and we agreed on a date to perform the work. Again they showed up on time to seal my driveway and promptly went to work. Driveway sealing can be a messy job but they were clean. neat and very organized. They left no overspray, no mess, no fuss, and cleaned up completely. These guys are pros and I will recommend them, without hesitation, to my friends & neighbors. Do yourself a favor - call Asphalt Armor first!

I hired a company to remove a tree for me and they dropped the tree directly on my driveway. So I looked up highly rated paving companies in google and I decided to hire them. They could have got back to me a little faster, but they have fair pricing. They fixed my driveway and seal coated it.
