This review is a work-in-progress because I have to travel cross-country to inspect the work (traveling 10/23/18 - 10/26/18). As for what can be written right now, I wish I would have chosen a different company. Over the last 9 weeks, I found the owner of this company - J. Plant to be an unethical, disorganized, hot-tempered, horrible communicator, which has resulted in a prolonged completion time, along with a very unpleasant taste of his inability to control himself and conduct himself as a professional. I hired this company to do a $25k siding job with new windows and shutters on 8/10/17 after signing a contract and paying $3,800 up-front. Prior to making this payment, he sold me on how his company should be able to finish this kind of job in one week once he had all the material but, here it is more than two months later, and it's still not finished, and the very soonest it will be finished is late next week not in time for my trip across 3 time zones. J. Plant blamed the delays on his overseas vacation (per his email 8/19, saying his window guy "got busy") and the Jacksonville weather. He even blamed a hurricane that struck 200 miles away which had next to no impact whatsoever on Jacksonville. But his reasons for delay after delay is not nearly so much for vacations and weather as it is for disorganization and poor communication, based on the paltry excuses given. At first, I was tolerant with the delays, but he knew at least 3 weeks in advance when I'd be flying in to look at the work, and at least 2 weeks in advance of the recent hurricane (200 miles away) as to what kind of shutters to order. So, either he took another vacation, had more "bad weather", or "got busy". Up to this point, all my communications with J. Plant were via email, with one exception in early October. The email method was fine with me, but based on J. Plant's communications, I found it necessary to have to check on him more often than what I felt necessary. On one occasion, I had to send him the same identical email 4 times that had a question that he wouldn't or couldn't answer, and he responded by acting as if he never read the question. On the fourth time around, I let him know that I was getting frustrated with him. He responded in a very immature, unprofessional manner. Today, after asking J. Plant via email the status of the job, he told me that only 2 of 6 shutters arrived (similar story he gave regarding the windows), and the others "might" be in by Oct. 26. Upon receipt of this communication, I decided I had enough of the delays and excuses, and sent an email to tell J. Plant that I will find someone else to purchase, paint and install the shutters, which J. Plant says are not in stock anywhere nearby (we'll see, but he should have listened to me and ordered the shutters when I told him to). Just a few minutes after sending J. Plant that email, he calls me, yelling uncontrollably, and at first wouldn't let me talk. Needless to say, I didn

That Florida weather that seems to rain every other day and prevents us from working outside as an excuse. However we worked till it started to rain. Even a hurricane 200 miles away it impacts our area with winds and rain, which I gladly sent you the radar pictures for verification. Even Cindy your management company verified the weather. On your email that I have (which will be sent to Home Advisor) you expressly wrote, " You work for me and I put food in your mouth, Jesus F****** Christ Answer the question" this was at 11:30 PM!!! and you got a response "sorry I am tired, it is 11:30pm" in which you responded by telling me in length, how I should hire people and that you work 24/7 and I need to learn how to run my company . The Oct conversation was to call and tell you that 4 shutters were delayed and the reason I got was due to the hurricane. I also expressed to you that you wouldn't be able to get a hold of me fri-sun, as I was going to the Panama City Beach to cook 3000 of hamburgers and hot dogs and funded the trip my self to help those in need, and I wouldn't be able to be reached. I depend on other people and companies and I can only tell you what I get told. The part of the conversation you left out is you called me F******* Stupid and that I had a 3rd grade education and repeatedly called me Stupid!!! I simply asked you to respect me and to not talk to me that way. You quote : you work for me and I'll talk to you however I want, you work for me and you don't talk back to the client. your F****** Stupid.. Unfortunately I don't take kindly to anyone talking to ANYONE like that there is not reason to, specially over missing shutters. I can't work with someone who treats anyone like that and correct me if I am wrong EVEN after you blasted me. I emailed you and professional asked If you would like us to finish, so you didn't have to hire someone else. Only the $306 worth of shutters had not been completed as they had not come in, out of my control. If you are reading this please look at all the other great reviews, we have gotten and feel free to reach out to them to see if they were ever disrespected or felt as that I didn't give their project 100% attention and communication. I have OVER 100 Emails with in 45 days so please tell me that is lack of communication.. Here is your email pasted below. "You asked for it - in spades. You called me yesterday when you had no need to, and you went out of your way to antagonize me with your loud, uncontrollable yelling and attacks. And this is how you talk to a $25k customer? You ARE stupid! You are a genuine s***-for-brains. And you're the one who egged it on. I told you several times, "Hey . . ." to get you to stop. And how did you respond? By mimicking my "Hey" repeatedly, just like a trouble-making instigator would." I would like to invite anyone to contact me about this

The work was top notch. Not only did they consistently show up on time,keep the work area neat but they finished the project early and were willing to accommodate multiple projects scheduled at the same time. Final project turned out great!"

AMAZING! Called and came out and gave quote the next day. Everyone was so friendly and professional. Owner, Mr. Plant and his wife, was involved since day 1. He went on vacation for a couple days but STILL checked his emails. Zeb took over for those days and he was just as amazing. It was nice. The whole staff!! Amazing. They were quick and clean. When they saw extra termite damage, Mr. Plant worked with me financially. He was more than fair and I appreciate it. When he got back from vacation, he came over to my house asap. Checked on the progress. There were other homes in my neighborhood using Assist 2 Build. I popped over to check them out. You MUST use this company. Did I say they were amazing? ha.

Assist 2 Build took over after we were left with half a roof and half of the siding, having been removed by a previous "contractor". Mr.Plant and his crew had the grit and integrity to dig in and get our house fixed right after many serious mistakes had been made. The crew was courteous and their can-do attitude helped us get through a very rough situation. Jim Plant was quite fair in pricing, even to the point of helping us upgrade from T-1-11 to Hardie plank siding. There was no need to "chase them down" as with the previous workers, Jim's people were on the job first thing each day. Do yourself a favor and skip the headaches. Hire a professional, call Jim Plant.
