I would not recommend this company. We worked with them for over 15 months for what should have been, as was told to us to be, a several month project. We ultimately had to make the decision to terminate the final work with them, which really was not ideal because we are still stuck with issues (flooding, for one) and unable to finish our permitting process. So difficult is it for homeowners to work with DeKalb permitting that we even tried to pay them to just make the inspection calls for us to finish the permits out. They have decided to ignore us entirely, so I figure is time to share our experience with others so maybe at least one person does not have to go through a similar experience. We employed Atlantic Design and Construction starting June 2017 to install a large, in-ground pool and do grading, a retaining wall, electrical/plumbing and a large area of paver decking around the pool. The first bad sign was when they did not explain to us the contract did not include something as basic as the dirt removal for the pool. This ended up costing us nearly $2500 in surprise fees. You install pools, how do you not explain that to people?! As the project went on we had to ask them to redo work more times than I can even count. Common sense work was done carelessly and incorrectly. If we had not been persistent in having at least some of the issues resolved, we would have had an extremely poorly done retaining wall, steps that were built dangerously, incorrectly and completely off-center, crooked fencing, uneven pool decking with failed polymeric sand installation, worse flooding, etc...etc. We still have a poorly done retaining wall, issues with flooding into the pool, incorrectly done backwash line (which may put us out $2k to resolve), uneven fencing with 1 nail ends sticking out literally everywhere and incomplete permitting (who knows what that will reveal). We had so many reset& conversations to discuss our concerns and issues, which they AGREED they were at fault, only to be swiftly disappointed again by careless work and WEEKS without anyone showing up. It was extra disappointing because we actually, personally enjoyed them and thought after over a year of working together we had enough of a relationship that they wanted to do the right thing. They would often talk about other work they were doing in the area, which was insulting to hear when we just wanted them to finish ours. It seemed because they were chasing those other checks they quit caring about the ones we had already given them. I am just so incredibly disappointed for the tens of thousands of dollars and the immeasurable number of personal hours and actual physical labor we have had to put in to get the work mostly completed and the endless patience, understanding, conversations, etc we had with the owners trying to get them to deliver on the work. Just this past week we had to spend half a day fixing an overflow pipe underneath our pavers that they dislodged that stopped the pool from draining when it was too full. They would not respond to us about resolving the issue, even though that is supposed to be part of their guarantee. I truly hope we do not have any bigger issues because it does not appear they actually stand behind their work. I waited to write this review for so long because we feel so backed into a corner about what our options are as homeowners. However, since they refuse to even acknowledge or help us finish our permitting I think people need to know what they are getting into. If you still choose to move forward with them, I would personally suggest they only do the pool and pick another company to do the other work (grading, hardscaping, etc). Be prepared to supervise the heck out of EVERYTHING, because if you do not you will sorely regret all your hard-earned money being...
