Complaint about Augustino Brothers, Inc. and Chris Perdomo I typically avoid posting complaints, but I feel obligated to share my experience with Augustino Brothers, Inc., specifically regarding Chris Perdomo, who replaced my roof in January 2021 after hurricane Zeta. I am sharing this to highlight my concerns about the workmanship on my roof and the poor customer service I received, in hopes of helping others make informed decisions. I chose Augustino Brothers, Inc. due to positive reviews on their website, the A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau, and their reputation in my neighborhood. I hired them to replace the roof on my main residence for $21,000 and later had them replace the roof on a rental property as well. During the initial replacement, I specifically pointed out concerns about the flashing between my house and an adjoining section. I emphasized that it had caused leaks during the storm and needed to be addressed. Chris assured me the issue had been taken care of, and his invoice stated that the flashing had been replaced. However, during hurricane Francine, we experienced significant leaks at the same flashing point, causing damage to the inside of the house. The water intrusion was so severe that we had to remove wet drywall and actively use fans to dry the area in order to prevent mold from developing. The day following the storm, I contacted Chris to evaluate the roof. When Chris arrived, he pointed out several potential issues, including cracks in the brick mortar, which he suggested were the cause of the leaks. I disagreed, noting that those cracks had existed for years without causing any problems before. Additionally, Chris informed me that the workmanship warranty had expired after two years and was voided by storms. While I had never mentioned anything about warranty coverage, this became a point of contention. I asked why the flashing, which had just been replaced, failed after only three years during a Category 1 storm. In my experience with other roofs, I have never seen such early failure, especially after only minimal hurricane winds. I found Chrisâ s attitude defensive and dismissive, particularly when I raised the flashing concern I had mentioned in 2021. I asked if an apron flashing with counter flashing would have prevented the leaking. He stated that he does not use apron flashing with counter flashing, and although he promised to provide me with an estimate for repairs, I have not received it to this day. It was not until the day after Chris came that we discovered a second leak from the chimney flashing, which affected a closet on the second floor. Following this, I sought a second opinion from another roofer, who confirmed that both the flashing and chimney flashing had failed. While performing the repairs, the new roofer discovered that the plywood near the chimney was rotted and had likely been so for years. This should have been addressed during the original roof replacement, especially since the area was prone to water pooling due to it being located in a dead valley near the chimney. In conclusion, my experience with Chris Perdomo and Augustino Brothers, Inc. has been disappointing. While I had hoped for better service, I feel that my concerns were not taken seriously. I have since resolved the issue with another roofer, but I regret the additional costs and repairs that could have been avoided. I hope my experience encourages others to do thorough research before selecting a contractor.
