I paid for the first part 15 months ago and paid in full 4 months ago but the deck is still not finished. He was not upfront about his license being removed 2 months ago. I would not recommend him!

I paid 37k for landscaping my yard last June he completed half and has not stayed in contact and wont return email call or text

When we hired Mark Dalton and his firm in June 2021, the company's reviews were great. We got two other bids and went with Technique because the bid was competitive and he had an idea of how to work for our new deck around our existing wisteria and lilac. The job required tearing out the entire old deck (not attached to the house). This was not a big job, so we assumed we were not a high priority, but we still coughed up close to $5000 up front, then had to pay a little more when he realized he had mismeasured and we needed a few more feet of railing and Trex. The construction team showed up late in the summer to tear out the old deck, and we assumed that the new deck would be installed shortly after. Well, it is almost 14 months later and what we have is an infrastructure that is been sitting there so long the paint they used on the wood is now peeling in places and Trex that is been laid on half the infrastructure, leaving a hole we can not step across safely to enjoy what deck we have. The stairs were framed but not finished, so we can not even walk our deck furniture up onto the deck. We kept thinking they can not take any longer so left the furniture out, and it suffered damage over the winter. We are getting treated the same as many other people are pointing out (look on Home Advisor, who connected us with these guys). Pretty much the last insult was that (bear in mind the contract asked for half up front, then partial payment of the balance as the work progressed, which is pretty standard) was Mark asking for the entire balance a few months ago because prices have gone up so much since I made the bid, I need you to pay now just so I can afford to buy the materials. It is not that we are not sympathetic (he and his wife have multiple life-changing medical problems, but he does not do the work) but if he would order the materials 14 months ago when we signed the contract, this would not have been a problem. We have no evidence at this point that he did not just take our money and skip town, leaving us with half a deck and a failing infrastructure that sat out all winter. So many of these problems, bad feelings, and horrible reviews could have been prevented if he would just proactively communicate, or at least answer texts, emails, and phone messages (and we have tried all 3 lots of times). He is leaving us no option but to pursue legal action.

Still waiting for the deck to be completed since March 2021. Quality of work is great, whenever they show. A lot of money was paid for the complete teardown and rebuild of the composite (Trex) deck not yet completed. Insurance carried is not of value since it is only if there was property damage. Not completed is not damaged so you can not file a claim. The owner is always polite and respectful. Has reasons for non-completion. Cost of rebuild abt $20k.

On June 27, 2021, my wife and I signed a contract with Mark Dalton completed a deck for us and paid a deposit for 7140. Initially, we were told that our project would start at the end of July and be completed by no longer than the end of Aug. After several months of contacting Mark and his team finally showed up and for the most part framing was finally completed on Oct 14 except that he had not measured the desired length of the deck, so we had to negotiate an upgrade, we paid 1944 for the framing along with 1250 for the upgrade. Several voice mails and text messages began along with additional excuses as to why he or his team could not come out. His crew showed up every now and then and did the minimum throughout this time. On Wednesday Feb 9 he called asking what time I went to work so I could pay in advanced for the trex. Mark said, **If you write me a check, I can have my son Josh pick up the trex and get it started, it will be done by Friday**, 02/11. I reminded Mark about the contract we had and how it stated that I would make payments after each of the three stages were completed to which he responded, **I know, it is just going to take longer**. Unfortunately, we gave him the check and he did not deliver. We decided to put a hold on the check and told him he would get paid when he finishes. He got angry and threaten us with legal action. I offered him to pay his supplier directly for the materials so he could just pick them up and install them, pay him immediately in cash for the difference after the installation but he did not reply. I have so far paid 10300 dls, it has been over 8 months, the deck only has a third of the trex installed and I have no idea if he is ever going to show up to finish at least the trex part.

I think they did a great work till this past couple of months I have not been able to get ahold of them I would have recommended them again but the lack of communication in this past 7 months,and the in completed job made me lower the rating.

Really bad experience, poor cummunication. It has been over 3 months and he has not done any work.

Poor communication. Poor Follow Through. Over Extending in Scheduling. Poor Excuses

Decks: Be sure to get three bids before deciding. I wish we had done that. The main problem was communicating with the owner. He seldom returned text messages or telephone calls. Very frustrating.

Mark the owner was hired to do landscaping for my father. He requested half up front to reserve a scheduled spot and to show good faith. This was over 5k. He never came back to the property, we never got scheduled, he had one excuse after another all the time putting our job off, and now Iâ m gone for the winter. Because I designed the landscaping and had it all planned, I felt I needed to be present to watch the job unfold. I had specifics that I know he didnâ t remember in May when we met. I cannot trust someone when they never return calls, didnâ t take any notes at our first meeting., was vague on the contract about what was included, and doesnâ t show up when he says he will? When I asked for my dads deposit back, he said heâ d get back with me. Iâ m still waiting. Mark Dalton is an opportunist and dishonest, He preys on vulnerable people like my 93 year old father.

My experience has been very disappointing so far, paid $5k so far for a deck back In March and they have showed up once, text with no reply, called and no answer now. I have no clue if or when my 3 day job deck will be finished. It has been over 4 months now and neighbors had theres started a week ago and it is finished. I paid for a deck install so I could enjoy it this year, not sure what to do at this point. I had other options but this sounded like a good choice in the beginning. I wont be using home advisor for any home projects in the future.

I originally called him, he called me back. He made the effort to come out, talk to me, went over my plans and gave me an affordable bid. It was very competitive and he knew exactly what I wanted. He is very friendly overall and he really did a great job. I would chose him for my next project.
