Hired BCLS for replacement deck, new stone hardscape patio, and retaining wall repair. Putting in drainage in the backyard was not part of the contract but agreed that as the soil is excavated for the patio, then BCLS could slightly build up the level in my backyard behind new deck, instead of having to haul the soil away. The deck was completed first and the patio was 75% completed (project running 2 weeks behind schedule) when I was away for vacation for the final week. During this week additional buildup of the backyard plus sod. This sod and additional work was not part of the contract so was surprised, the ground was now about 2-3 inches higher than new patio level. It looked good but with the first rain we quickly saw drainage issues and BCLS brought the team in to roll back some of the sod and dig out some of the soil only in front of patio area so water would drain off the patio. This ended up causing a bigger issue with poor drainage in the middle of the yard where water stood for days because it was lowest point in the yard. When I spoke with Howard about fixing the drainage issue in my backyard (in July) that had occurred because the backyard level is higher than the patio, he agreed to correct, We discussed wells, drainage pipes and I asked Howard specifically if this is what he would do if it were his backyard to resolve the issue and Howard guaranteed me his solution would do the trick. Two months later on 10/2, after many delays and phone calls and emails back and forth, Howard and Steven plus six members of the BCLS crew successfully moved the drainage issue from the middle of my yard and instead made a trench that diverts and pools the water under the new deck. The deck skirting does not match the terrain of the backyard and it looks terrible. No dirt was removed, but instead it was moved around and at the end I observed a member of the BCLS team grab a steel pole to dig out the area and make a trench to go under the deck. When I asked the onsite supervisor since Howard and Steven had left, where it was going underneath the deck, he took a shovel and crawled under the deck to assure me he had trenched this so it would not stand underneath the deck or go to the base of my house, but instead would go to the side yard. When I watered my lawn that evening I noticed the water pooling under the deck so I crawled under to see the work that had been performed, and the hand dug 2-4 inches trench ends directly underneath the deck, so no drainage, just another mess that I will have to hire another company to address. Very disappointed in the work, solution and integrity of the company to complete the job. Looking for BCLS to own completion of the project from beginning to end and instead they were not willing to fix their mistakes. Will never recommend BCLS and would recommend you to look elsewhere. Lots of pictures to document the result and issues and would be happy to provide.

Didn’t end up going with them because of price. Too much for my budget but awesome experience with them.

Excellent service. The only reason I took off 1/2 star was because We had to call to get the yard graded properly and they sent someone to fix the issue right away. Everything else was perfect. I would definitely hire them again. They are really good and fast.

They did fantastic work! Howard is very responsive and I relied on his opinion. At the last minute, I wanted to add a fence which he did.
