We hired B.E.A.R.S. USA LLC in early November 2017 to remodel our bathroom, tile the floor and shower, and install a bathtub. His profile listed four achievements. His profile experience listed bathroom remodeling with tiling as an area of expertise. After two months, the shower tiling was so poor, it was unacceptable and the project was terminated. Tiles were covered with excess grout. Tile lippage, i.e., tile warping, exceeded National Standards Institute standards. Corners weren't square. The shower base was uneven with low spots. He used vendor products ignoring manufacturer product recommendations. The soaking tub bottom was not supported, flexing when a person stood in it. The contractor usually arrived in the afternoon, rarely notified us on days he didn't show up. When asked whether he was insured, he failed to answer. Three contractors, viewing the shower tiling, have said all of his tile work will have to be removed if the shower is to be re tiled.

Bathroom - Remodel
Hired in October to be completed by 11/26/2016 was just completed middle Jan 2017 and that is only because we came up from out of state. Went through 5 guys working on it, sloppy, plumbing had to be corrected, electrical box not correct, stuff missing in house. Only would come for a couple of hours and then go to another project. Argued with us on phone. Slow slow work, do not hire for anything that you want done in a hurry.

"First of all this project was during the winter season and located in a remote area near the end of Hemp Hill. On one occasion myself and one of the crew members barely drove out because of the snow and ice from this rather remote mountain location. People who are new to these mountains and especially come from areas without snow and ice rain don't have an appreciation of how easy it is to risk ones safety here getting around. (consumer name withheld per their request) is an electrical contractor, so he told me, down in Florida and when we first started on the project he promised to have the electrical taken care of and didn't do it. During the bathroom project (consumer name withheld per their request) added on to the scope of the work. The bathroom had been installed in an unfinished portion of the upstairs attic so after we had the bathroom dried in he had us sheet rock, put in a plywood subfloor and completely trim this other half of the house's attic.You can form your own opinion of why would he give us additional work. No information was provided to me by either of them on the day we got our final payment for all the work that anything was missing. Because of the missed days of work due to weather or road conditions a few times I had everyone there to try and catch up. I have been doing remodeling and new construction projects in western Carolina for 18 years now and I don't change my standards from one client to the next."

Barry is a detail oriented craftsman, who believes in quality. I found him to be very good at what he takes on and is not satisfied until he has completed the task and explains what and how he did the job. He is Top Shelf and reasonably priced and a local contractor which means a lot to me.

This husband and wife team (Barry and Selena) are excellent! They arrived within the time frame promised, and were very personable. Barry replaced an old dishwasher with a new one, which turned out to be a very time-consuming and tedious chore. If there were ten stars, I would give them a perfect 10! Thank you for a job well done at a fair price.

Barry relocated, re-plumbed, and re-wired a washer, dryer, toilet, sink, and poured the base of a shower stall. He had to deal with plumbing that was done by the previous home owner and brought everything up to code in the end. He was excellent to work with, listened to what we wanted, and didn't try to reinvent the wheel. He worked around our schedule and several bouts of inclement weather. Overall a great contractor and a great experience. We would certainly hire him again!

Barry arrived well prepared and in a timely manner. He connected my new BBQ grill to the house gas line in no time. I would not hesitate to use him again. Good value based on other estimates.

Barry is a very experienced and resourceful person. Great work at a price that beats Sears even with more extras provided such as electrical help. Also, he offered some advice on my deck for no charge and with a great attitude. Good guy and I hope to remain in touch. I would recommend him to anyone, for most anything (even studio music recording!). And, he's pretty much a genius in multiple areas of study. Serena is great as well (his wife and coordinator - your right Serena, he IS a renaissance man). Best Steve
