Our experience with Blair and Sons was negative. Chance is the name of the owner of this business. We took a chance and ended up losing out. My wife had begun working with Chance after meeting with him to discuss fencing and window work that we needed to be done. He came across as a nice guy someone who assured us he did quality work and followed code for the work done. I was convinced he was honest and had good character. After agreeing to have several windows replaced and a price for the work, he came out with one of his associates. They took part of the day to replace our windows. As he began working he realized he had not planned the job well and some obstacles would cost him more time to work through. He came to us and explained he had more obstacles and requested that we paid him an extra 300 dollars for the work. We did not want him to think we were unreasonable and are the kind of folks that want to make sure our contractors feel we have treated them more than fair. It was about 25% more than what we agreed on to put in perspective roughly what we paid for his work. When he finished, he came to my wife and said he was done and requested payment. My wife stated that the work was mostly done but it appeared the trim for the last window was not finished and also the drywall patch for an area of our drywall was not finished. It was not that much and Chance was tired from the day being longer than he had originally planned. He said that he would come back when he did other work for us or stop by the next week and finish. I spoke up and supported Chance stating that Chance would finish because the guys are really tired. He had been recommended by another handyman we used and I felt he presented someone that seemed very honest and was a nice guy overall. Just could not imagine he would not come back to finish our trim. It was less than an hour's of work and something he could do the next week since he was in our area serving other customers. 48 hours later I began noticing my office where he replaced one of the windows was getting warm. More than usual with the summer heat. It then dawned on me that I watched on the last window he installed that he removed the insulating foam from the old window he took out of the window opening but I never saw him put foam in around the window to replace the insulation when he installed the new window. This is required by code to do and all our windows in our house have this since our house is only a few years old. So I asked my wife to check in with him to see when he would come back to finish the trim and drywall patch and to ask him about the insulation because I did not think he had put this in with the new windows since I did not see it on the last window he installed since the trim was still off and not finished, and I was experiencing more warmth than usual on one of the other finished windows. I was finding my new window in the office was putting out more heat than the window a few feet away. I asked my wife to please find out if he did it and if not to make sure he removed our window trim on the windows he did and to please put that in when he came back. My wife called and discussed our concern about the foam and he agreed that he may have forgotten to put that in after removing the foam insulation from the old windows. She then said that was fine she just wanted to be sure he would take care of that when he came to finish the trim/drywall for our third window. He told my wife, I am not coming back. He ghosted all our texts after the call to please complete the work agreed. We had to hire another contractor to finish. We took pictures but not sure we can post these here. We have posted on yelp and Angi I would never use this man or his business. If he could do this to us, I wonder where else he has cut corners.
